Thank you, theshape11122! It's nice to know I'm not the only one - I swear, in my more delirious sleep-deprived moments, I was starting to think that if I don't start sleeping better, my grafts would never settle o_O.

I thought the same, I was waking up during the night at least once every night, but was fine, soon as I was able to get rid of the travel cushion sleep was back to normal!

Have you washed your hair yet? Just interested to know what happened with the scabs? Was there still grafts underneath?

Hi Charles92, yes I washed it yesterday and

Hi Charles92, thank you for this. Yes I washed it yesterday for the first time and I'll just upload the photos.

Day 7 Post-Op - First Hairwash

The scabs will probably take a while to all fall off, as you don't want to force anything too soon. As far as I'm aware, the grafts are fine and a few hairs started shedding, too. So there'll be likely more of that in the next few days.

Day 8 Post-Op

A lot more of the scabs came off today (without forcing any). It seems to really help to let the shampoo soak on your scalp for a good 10 minutes. It seems to be healing nicely, too, and I think that speaks to the kind of care and attention that Dr Arshad puts into this. His other patients all look to have recovered quickly, too.

One thing I have been getting is some shooting pains in the donor area, although I've been reassured that this is normal as the area heals, the skin tightens and itchiness increases.

More shedding today, too, so I suspect a lot of the implanted hair will follow =/.

Usually scabs are gone by day 10 but some people heal a bit slower than others which is why some are lingering.
Pain in the donor is a normal part of the healing, some people feel it more than others. A couple of pain pills should do the trick.
Sometimes you may have a nerve or two that was effected by the extractions and they take a little longer to heal.
If it does persist, speak to the doctor again.

Thanks, Bigmac. Yes I wondered about the possibility of nerves being affected. Luckily, with a few painkillers, it hasn't affected my sleep. So it's just a waiting game, really.

Hope you have a nice weekend ahead,
Matt

I remember one of my small FUE procedures where I got pain in one small area of the donor. If I remember correctly it was gone within 2 weeks.
You probably won`t realise when it`s gone, one day it`s there, then it`s not.

That's very reassuring, thanks Bigmac. Honestly, I might have gone mad with post-op anxiety had it not been for this forum. Any concerns I've had about the healing process seem to be completely normal, but I'd never know if people who've already been through it didn't tell me.

Hi Matt. Great to hear that you also had a good experience with Dr Arshad and his team. It's great that this forum has helped us all with our choice of clinic, as I was like you and was close to booking in somewhere I would have regretted based on other comments I've now seen on here. Unfortunately this field seems to be a bit of a minefield but it's great to see patients sharing stories of all types of clinics in this forum.

It looks like everything is going as it should be so far. You're hair loss defintely doesn't look as bad as mine as we had a similar number of grafts so I'm sure you'll be very happy with the results.

I'm not 3.5 months since my procedure and a lot of the hair has started to come through. My new hairline is very clear and now I'm just waiting on it all to thicken out a bit over the next 9 to 15 months. I'll post some pictures this week as well.

You'll be going through the shedding stage I imagine but you're new hair will start growing through soon and you'll enjoy tracking the progress. Look forward to seeing how your hair progresses. All the best and in glad your feeling more confident already!

Hi Priceyrice, thank you for reaching out! Yes mate, absolutely - I really didn't know what to do for so long about my hairloss. My anxiety basically overwhelmed me and I wouldn't have really figured it out without this forum and all the helpful posts that people make on here. It's a nice bubble away from the madness of the rest of the internet.

I was just reading your thread and it's awesome Dr Arshad gave you an additional 1000 grafts on the day. I mean, what a difference that'll make to your end result! I'm looking forward to seeing your new pics this week and I hope you're feeling good about your progress :).

The shedding phase is in effect for me right now and I'm trying not to let my paranoia get the better of me. Today I was wondering if the empty patches in my hairline were because of shedding or because I'd somehow ruined the graft. I guess we won't know until hair starts to grow out in a few months. But it's an intriguing process, nonetheless.

Hope you have a good week ahead,
Matt

Don't worry you'd know if you'd ruined a graft, if a graft comes out you'd have blood trickling down your head, it leaves quite a mess. mine is patchy from shedding too but just have to ignore it and try not to look in the mirror every 5 mins!!

Thank you very much, for this theshape1122! That gives me some relief. I think the biggest issue is that, like you said, I've taken to looking in the mirror way too much, which definitely needs to stop. I don't think you're going to see what you want to see at this stage - only more shedding :/.

Amazingly detailed write up and the progress looks great already. Do you feel relieved and happy that you went a head?

From reading this forum and plenty of reviews I myself booked my HT with Dr Arshad in January and I can't wait. Reading your thread has furthered enforced that I have made the right decision and there isn't anyone else in the UK I would rather go to..

Good luck in your journey

Hi alex5, thank you for your kind words! I really wanted to write something that would show how much you're in safe hands with Dr Arshad (given how many unscrupulous clinics are out there), so that it would help people make informed decisions about which clinic to choose. I'd have been lost without this forum.

I'm glad all of the positive posts about The Hair Dr have helped you make your decision and you're looking forward to the big day in January. What a relief to have made your choice, ey?

I am very happy I went ahead and I think that, for me, one of the nicest feelings is that I'm more optimistic when I think about the future. Just goes to show how much my hairloss was affecting my life. But that's also why I definitely couldn't choose a clinic unless I was sure my mind would be much as relaxed as possible in the aftercare period.

Imagine spending the whole year after a hair transplant worrying that you've gone with the wrong surgeon and being constantly paranoid that the hair wouldn't grow properly. I think the anxiety would end me and the stress wouldn't help the recovery.

Good luck to you, too, and look forward to your blog if that's something you choose to share.

Best wishes,
Matt

I see it many times, people worrying and anxious after a Ht. I'm pleased you are at ease now and letting nature take its course. Before you know it you'll look back thinking that was a breeze. Having good work done and good aftercare makes life so much easier.

It's certainly much easier than what I imagine it would've been had I not used this forum, Bigmac. Don't get me wrong, I'm still prone to a bit of worrying, but it doesn't consume me like I might have expected.

One thing I've started doing is really trying to only check my hair once a day, after I wash it. I figure that obsessing about it will only make the time pass more slowly and I really should just be focusing on living my life now. Whatever the result in 12 months, there really doesn't seem to be anything to do at this stage other than take my meds, wash my hair and wait.

Regards,
Matt

2 Weeks Post-Op

The last of my scabs came off today (I gave my head a slightly more vigorous scrub) and a fair amount more hair shedded with it. Some patchiness seems to have become evident in my donor area, so hopefully with time that will grow back and blend in it a bit better. Otherwise, I'm very much in the ugly duckling phase.

3 Weeks Post-Op

Hi everyone, here I am after 21 days. I think I've had some shock loss in the donor which contrasts with the hair that is growing back denser. Not particularly flattering, but seems to have healed in general well and the redness is reducing. It's definitely been helping that I try not to look at myself in the mirror too much.

Hope you have a nice weekend,
Matt
