Hi guys,i decided on doing finally something for my self that i wanted for years in order to improve my appearance.I have bold patches to temples and a general thinning in front and i am looking on covering these areas.I am not keen on shaving my hair for having this procedure done because of my working environment etc and generally i am very stressed about my appearance the first days after the procedure as i can not take many days off from work. Before some days i visited Dr Kouremada Zioga in Harley because i read she is doing unshaven procedures.I can say i was satisfied from the results i saw there and from the consultation generally as she explained me all i wanted and i was stressed about in detail. Is there anyone that have done the procedure-FUE without shaving the hair?'''h;h;;h

It is possible to have small FUE procedures without the full shave.
However the donor area will not look untouched since many grafts have to be removed in a small area. Therefore you may see a difference in density between the harvested area and non harvested donor area when going for very short hair.

Just shave all your donor area, this pathcy(non shaven fue) is not a good idea unless you have existing large scars.

Unless you have hair to grow down over the area transplanted then it will look like you have had hairtransplant for a month or more.

There are a few clinics who offer this, as others have said it will limit the size of session you can have.

The unshaven FUE procedure has to be carefully planned as to not be aggressive in any one area of the donor area. If you are needing a large number of grafts, it would not make sense not to spread this out over your entire donor area.

A small hairline case would make more sense in the unshaven FUE procedure, unless the clinic is going one by one and clipping every other hair and extracting them in this manner. If this is what they propose, it will take longer and more than likely they will charge extra.

So please continue to research.

Tiger just bite the bullet and start cutting down to a one grade on the sides and back and leaving hair up on top like a Marine cut. Eventually for those around you it will become your normal look. Once you go in for a procedure you should definitely be back to where you were before the procedure in about 1-2 weeks.

It €™s better off for you in the long run.

Thats the way I went for my 2nd Surgery exactly how Topcat said it the Marine Cut I started doing it on the ship before i went to the clinic and they even took it down further , but if you do it now people will get used to it , after 2 weeks FUE it wont be noticed , only 1 person has said something to my wife mainly because her son has the same haircut and he is 19 years old , wishing you all the best

Cheers

Hi,thank you all for your answers. You made me think more and that is good. What Dr.Kouremada explained me during the consultation is that with unshaven session is not possible to extract the same amount of hairs as when someone shaves. In my case she mentioned that there is no issue as the amount of hairs i need is not big. She told me that she will use all the donor so as nothing will be obvious afterwards and that she will extract the hairs one by one without cutting them. She informed me that this method needs more time as it is more advanced.Thank you all again.

Hey Tiger. This is great news to hear you continued to ask questions... and especially to your doc... Please come back to the forum for any additional questions. Most of the posters here know a thing or two concerning FUE.;)

When you say unshaven.........

Is she lifting hair up and shaving underneath?

Is she lifting hair and trimming it shorter underneath?

Is she extracting long hairs?

Is she extracting short hair? Cutting hair to a number 1 or 2 grade.

What is the size session she is quoting?

Dr. Ray Woods is the most celebrated name in hair transplantation in the 21st century highly respected as the famous and controversial inventor of two great inventions that totally revolutionize how hair transplantation is done nowadays: FUE and BHT techniques.

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. This technique allows hair restoration to be performed with NO KNIFE, NO SCALPEL, NO STITCHES, NO LINEAR SCAR. Truly minimally invasive compared to the traditional technique and fast healing time.

The shaving of the recipient area is a big problem for myself. Whilst shaving the donor area presents no problems for me, i do not want to have to shave the top of my head. I work as a Secondary School Teacher and do not wish for anyone to realise i have had a hair transplant undertaken for obvious reasons, particulary when i only have about 14 days to recover from surgery.
Most of the Clinics/Surgeons i have had online consultations with will not work on myself unless i am fully shaved in the recipient area. However im off to Belgium during the Easter Holidays and intend to visit PHC and BHR and get their views in person. The work i need doing is only to my hairline and temples (my forelock is intact). So the work would be done to bald areas only (temples).

If you only need work doing to the temples I would have thought it wouldn't be much of a problem not shaving.

Stop going on about Dr Woods , this isn't helping with this posters questions.

If only bald areas will be receiving grafts then recipient shaving won't be an issue. However, most men with hair loss will have some thinning in the regions surrounding the areas that are completely without hair, as this is generally how hair loss progresses.
