Full medical insurance for non-UK hair transplants?

Did ask this question but at the end of something else

Would it not be prudent to have full medical cover when travelling abroad for a hair transplant? What would happen if things got nasty, repatriation etc?

Obviously standard EEC rights or travel cover would be totally inadequate should something go wrong. Not a nice topic but it has to be considered.

Also should you have HT problems with a non-UK clinic would they pay for re-visits including expenses etc?

Staggered none of the sponsors here or advertisers bothered to answer this extremely important question!!!!!

This is very important indeed.

Not fluffy and optimistic I admit, but surely people must ask these questions before embarking on medical treatment abroad.

The foreign clinics are irresponsible if they do not ensure there is cover in place before commencing any treatment.

SPARKY quote:

"With the exception of The Farjo Clinic, i'd say it's more important to have medical insurance for op's in the UK than abroad."

What a ludicrous statement to make.
What would happen if you had a real medical emergency with an HT in the USA?
No health service, no automatic repatriation, no legal representation, no reciprical arrangements, no easy revisits.
People are going into all this international stuff way too easily. Even if the clinincs are good and the HT results are good, you must look at the whole situation.

Why has nobody from the long list on sponsors not replied to this question? Lots of people are viewing this thread and nobody has replied. Why? Because there is obviously nothing in place with these clinics and nobody knows what to say. Well, what they can do right now is offer a fully inclusive travel and medical insurance package for their patients that they say they care so much about.
If they did that I would be truly impressed.

As things stand you travel abroad at your peril with absolutely no fall back position if things go wrong, however unlikely you many think that to be.

Gonna keep beating this drum, sorry but this is important and I was reminded today of how important. Insurance companies are talking of repatriation costs because of air ambulances now being used more and more and how normal EEC cover is hopelessly inadequate, and that everybody should have full travel insurance when travelling in europe.

Add to that having medical treatment abroad as well as just travelling, and you can see how risky it could all get without full medical cover.

Travelling to the USA would be significantly riskier again and should require much thought and planning.

Of course alot of this depends on your health generally and what sort of attitude you have to risk and how wealthy you are!

edit:

Anyone visiting this forum and reading this thread must ask themselves the question:

Why still no comments or suggestions from the clinics who obviously expect all their patients to travel the world with no cover. All I can ask is that you all start asking questions before you travel or pay a deposit.
