Thanks for updating, yeah it looks like you've got quite a few hairs sprouting already. You might be an early grower.Hey, I have attached photos from today (just after 3 months). I have new hairs coming through which are hopefully visible on the photos. Any questions let me know.
Hi. I no longer have these pictures unfortunately. Are you having a full or partial shave? What is your current hair like? If you are keeping it long like I did it just looked like I had an undercut and by week 2 had grown quite a bit. I also covered it with a cap when permitted by the Dr.Hi @duffman , looking like it's coming through really well!
I need a similar amount of grafts to you in a slightly different pattern. I wonder if you have any photos of your donor area when shaved short? It's the one thing holding me back from going ahead with treatment. I'm concerned of the moth eaten look.
Cheers!

If I am being honest, perhaps I'm a bit picky compared to others and I do particularly find that the donor area in most pictures looks quite bare. I've been so cautious over the years and effectively covering up my hairline, that it will feel like a huge embarrassment if I feel like it's noticeable that I've had the work done. I don't think mentally I am capable of accepting that people around me could know. I am however doing it for myself and if the donor area does appear a lot less full/more patchy, then I would give myself a hard time over it.@SPat88
There are lots of posts here with people showing their donor area post FUE so you should have a look through posts and you will gauge how it looks- but this is all dependent on donor area, number of grafts, hair and skin tone etc. So fairly individual.
You’ve put lots of posts specifically mentioning the “moth eaten” donor area.
I fully appreciate your concerns as it’s a big step to take. (It took me years of research before taking the plunge)
Is there a reason in particular this is such a concern?
Have you seen specific bad examples from particular Dr’s?
Keen to understand.
Appreciate that! Perhaps I am worrying a little too much, I guess it just feels like a risk. I'm quite judgemental of myself so I'm just concerned about that. Great to know someone as up close to your hair has made comments like that. Reassuring for sure. I'll do some more window shopping on donor areas on this site.To be honest I think you are worrying to much about donor area issues. If you go with a good ethical Dr with a good reputation your donor will look untouched. My barber who has cut my hair for nearly 30 years says my Donor area looks totally untouched and I have mine shaved about a 2 on the back and sides

Thanks for all that information and I'll definitely check your threat out. I agree I have to accept that I will lose some, I'm just dreading that it's not what I hope for. I think youre right I'll probably get less attention than I would give myself.Hi
What the donor area would look like was a concern for me too and the simple maths is you are removing grafts to move to the top, so there will be less overall. However looking at others pictures gave me a good feel for what it would look like during the recovery period but as the others said everyone is different and it's surgery so never any guarantees. It's worth talking to the doctors about how they plan to extract to minimise the impact, which might ease your concerns?
Have a look at my thread if it helps. I hit week 4 today (will post some more pics at the weekend) with over 3k grafts, so quite a large number and I am pretty happy with the donor recovery so far.
It helps I WFH and lockdown limits me seeing my mates etc. but of the few people I have seen up close (after 2 weeks), no one has said anything to me other than "you've given yourself a lockdown trim".
If you are like me you will be your biggest critic and yes, in certain light conditions I can still see the extraction area but that's only because I am actively looking for it and it's still relatively early days. If I go out I wear a baseball cap, both to protect the scalp from the sun but also I don't like the top being so short and shedding!
You will probably find that most people don't care or pay as much attention as you think.
Good luck with your research and always make sure you are comfortable with your decision.
no issues at all with my donor. One of my earlier pics shows this at 3 weeks where its grown well. How would you describe your hair characteristics? Mine is thick in the donor areaHey,
I'm going to just leave my hair long on top, I'd like to keep the back of my head with a longer shave if possible but I haven't discussed that with them yet.
I think I've gotten over the issues I'll face with the front but I'm just concerned long term that my donor area looks moth eaten when I go short. Not sure a skin fade is for me but I just wish I could see pictures of what the donor area will look like for me once it's through the first 3/4 weeks...
Did you have any issues?
