This video was fun to make but it was also extremely difficult but I wanted to do something different this time around. I just happened to find myself with a unique opportunity to discuss LLLT options since I was temporarily in possession of a laser hood system for a few weeks (long story). It also is an opportunity to share my observations from visiting multiple clinics over the past few years.

Hey Joe, what LLLT device for home would you recommend? There are a number of helmets and hand held devices and choosing one is somewhat difficult. Does Dr Cooley have one he suggests for his patients? Thanks!

Hi Hdude46,

I think he uses Lasercap but he's very cautious about promoting it because he doesn't want people to get the wrong idea about how effective it is, or laser in general. I think this is a reasonable path.



Right now the ones that come to mind are Lasercap, Capillus and the iRestore helmet. They seem to be the more popular brands but I can't really comment on their efficacy just that in general laser seems to help. I wish I had more specifics for you but I don't. However, I may wind up doing a few reviews of specific products in the future.

Thanks Joe. I take it the caps are better than combs out there?

It's hard to say. The comb people will say that they're better because they move the hair around and you get the light to the scalp but I think maybe the counterpoint for caps or helmets would be that the light is more consistently available in any given area so I think that the best way to use a cap or hood would be to have damp hair that's combed back before you wear which ever system you get.
