Hair transplant in U.K. or abroad?

Hey. I’m a 33 year old male from the U.K. I’ve been suffering with hair loss for some time now. I used to take finasteride which did seem to help slightly but after reading it can have some serious side effects of trying to have children I stopped use. I don’t take any supps anymore.

Ive accepted my hair is thinning so nowadays I keep it v short. Usually a 1 to 1.5 on top and a shaved bald on the sides an back.

My main thinning areas are my temples, the front and back and a fair bit thicker. I’m considering a transplant in the next few years (maybe sooner) and don’t know where to start.

Ive heard good things about turkey - would ppl recommend this and what clinic? Or does U.K. have better clinics that are worth paying extra for? Also even if I do get the transplant I plan to keep the same hair style, will it be obvious I’ve had a transplant if I do this? I’d like to go down the FUE route.

Having a hair transplant with or without meds is taking a risk. Hair transplants can fail for various reasons.
Using meds is the best option for stopping or slowing down your hair loss.
Both countries you mention have decent clinics. You should take your time researching them.
All Fue extractions will leave a scar. Some are smaller than others depending on punch size and extraction patterns. Some people heal better than others with less visible scarring whilst it can be more noticeable on the next patient.

Is travelling to Turkey worth it in terms of the extra time it takes etc. Or does it make more sense to spend a bit more and get the procedure here - easier after care etc..

Travel or distance should not be an issue if you find the right clinic for you. Aftercare is pretty straight forward, most if not all clinics should be contactable via email or Whatsapp.
Looking at your picture I think you would benefit from Finasteride but like you say, some studies do claim it can affect unborn children and advise not to take it if you`re trying to conceive. The choice has to be yours.
You may respond well to Minoxidil.

I was going to travel abroad for a HT but due to lockdown and a few other issues related to my job I decided to have in done in the UK. Yes I paid a little more but it just suited my situation better. I think you just have to weigh up pro and cons of having it done in the UK or going abroad

Go check out the patient section on the forum you will see lots of people’s results for lots of Dr’s and this will help you make a decision. I had my HT with The Hair Dr in Leeds I’m only 6 months post HT and the result is looking good so far plus after care and support has been 1st class

Yes it was more than I was planning on spending but looking in the mirror and feeling confident and able to style my hair was worth every penny and I’ve still got 6 months of growth to go

thanks for the link. As I said, I took FIN prev and not sure I noticed any changes but maybe I didn’t use it long enough - this was around 1 year ago. When I used it around 6/7 years ago it actually re grew the hair around my temples - but my hair loss wasn’t really that bad then.. we aren’t trying to conceive atm so maybe I’ll go back on and give it another go. If we do try to conceive I feel 6m would be more than enough time to get it 110% out of my system..

I was thinking 1mg tabs , once a day? Try 3m and go from there..

1mg per day is the recommended dose. 3 months may be too early to see any benefit, if no sides it's advised a minimum of 6 months.
Propecia or Proscar are the main brands. Usually they cost more than the generics. I use generic Finasteride. Probably been using it from around 2007 - 2008 after being on Proscar since 2005.
