I'm in my late 30's and have, last Tuesday, had around 2000 graphs moved to the crown and front of my head. I decided to write on this forum, my first, because after my initial experience, some years ago, with consultations at other practices - I have been extremely happy with my dealings with Ziering and felt safe in the hands of Dr. Ball. Although, it s too early to say if the surgery is a real success, I thought I would document it, over time, to help others see the possible options open to them.
Firstly, can I say that I was very weary about the whole idea of hair surgery. I felt a little embarrassed and rather vain. Should I not let life take its course? There seemed to be so many options, (FUE, strip, robot etc) and two or three years ago when I made an initial enquiry, I was given very little time to ask questions and get an understanding of the whole process. And a very high price for that consultation.
No doubt there are many good surgeons. But what impressed me the most, was the time Dr. Ball and his manager gave me as well a clear explanation and possible paths. Straight off he told me that surgery wasn t necessarily the answer. I saw him 3 or 4 times before making my decision over a year and a half. And he actually has persuaded me to have less done than I originally wanted. Less is more when it comes to changing a hairline.
As for the day itself? Dr. Ball and I spent a couple of hours talking and making the final decisions. It turned out to be quite a creative process. The team was very quiet and professional and he was there pretty much throughout. Further to that, he has called me at home since the operation.
I attach a few pictures of the procedure and will post more as time goes on.
I went for shave the whole head FUE by hand. I came to this decision based on a number of factors: time I had available to recover, best results (from photos I d been shown as examples of work), and advice from Dr. Ball.
I hope this helps those people thinking of about surgery. At the very least, make sure you feel comfortable with your plan of action and take your time.
