Alex I note Hdc consider under 25 as a young patient Does this mean you won't operate on a patient younger than this?

Hi Mane,



Of course we operate on patients under 25 but we want to give them the correct advice.



The main parameters that are examined for all patients but especially the young ones are:



· final expected stage of hair loss,

· density of the remaining donor,

· quality of follicular units in the donor

· expectations

So if a young patient under 25 has not family history of reaching Norwood class 7 and his donor is good and has realistic expectations, this means that he is the right candidate and we operate on him.



The article in the link in my initial post has the intention to educate patients and especially those under 25 so as to understand better their possible future hair loss and how is this related to hair transplantation.

Hair loss hits a guy harder when he is young and in his prime. With careful planning it's achievable to transplant enough grafts to take away the bald look.

Hello Everybody,



I have just came across a great example supporting the article above, of a 25 year old young patient that had 2030 grafts to his hairline and other thinning area as shown below, 8 years ago in 2008. This patient is type 2 as described in the relevant article.



From these, you can see the before and after result in the year 2008.



This patient came back to us this year, in 2016, to add more hair to the areas that he lost his own existing hair. This shows how a young patient can develop after a longer period of time, when he loses his existing hair and remain with the transplanted hair. He is now heading for Norwood class 4-5.



In this case, the hair in the middle front part which seemed strong at a young age of 25, have gradually dropped by the age of 33. Nevertheless the appearance still seems normal but an additional hair transplant is needed to maintain this normal look.



He is now planned for a second procedure on the 4th August 2016 and I will be updating in due time for his progress.
