Have just booked HT with Dr Bisanga 2300 grafts, pictures included

Hey all,

Have just booked HT for jan with Dr Bisanga, he estimated I needed 2300 grafts to repair the front of my hair. Ideally I wanted a lower hairline but was happy to take his advice considering my age (31) and donor density (65 per cm2)
I’m nervous as do a really good job concealing my hair loss with fibres, but this is something iv wanted for years and im excited to get it done.
I will be taking oral minoxidil but not finesteride.
Have attached pictures of hair and design and a picture just now with fibres in.

I wondered if 2300 was enough?

Hi itsross.
Your density is less at 65 but you have the benefit of having a wave/curl to your hair that will help with coverage. This means less grafts are required to achieve coverage of someone with straight hair. I think your hairline design looks good and will suit you. It looks to be positioned 7cm up from the centre of your eyebrows.
The result you have with the fibres looks great. What you’ll need to remember is the hair transplant will not create the same thick wall of hair look. Do you wash the fibres out every night? They can become ingrained on your scalp if left on long enough. It’s best to keep your scalp clean and healthy every night.
If people don’t know about your hair loss it will be difficult to hide the surgery from them unless you hide away for a while and wear a loose fitting hat when in company or public. Your head is going to be shaved for this surgery. I would buzz the hair down before surgery. Get use to the look and anyone who you are close to will get use to seeing you with short hair.
Are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?

Currently I leave the fibres in, but was advised by DR B to stop using them prior to surgery.

Is it ok to use hair fibres on the transplanted hair?

That’s ok I’m pretty open about having the surgery done, I won’t try and hide it but will continue to wear caps etc

That’s a good idea, I might buzz down soon and get used to the look so im prepared.

currently no medication, iv had sexual problems in the past so decline finesteride and said I would try oral minoxidil

Clinics have different protocols on hair fibres. I used them 10 dash post op but washed them out thoroughly at night making sure my scalp was clean. The odd time I did miss, can’t remember why now but do remember it staining the pillow cases.

Yeh I’d be buzzing if they said I can use fibres soon after but by the sounds of things he was against them as said they irritate the scalp so might just have to wait it out..
Do you think 2300 grafts is enough for my hair? I was going to ask for more and see if I could move the hairline I little further forwards but I think he was concerned in case I needed a further HT in future due to further recession…

The hairline looks about on par where it is now with the fibres and that suits you. I’d go with the doctors design if it were me. You will get use to wearing a hat for a few months post op unless you’re a a lucky one whose grafts continue growing after the transplant.
