HELP! Need hair transplant repair in UK

Had an awful hair transplant in Turkey with GETHAIR and Dr Tayfun Oguzoglu

3672 grafts were extracted which left me with bald spots for a year and a half, plus patches left in my donor area which look awful

I won't be going back to Turkey and need help in picking a clinic within the UK which could improve results

I'm leaning towards having a FUT procedure and then a SMP procedure to cover the patches and the scars left

So need help picking the right clinic who ideally specialise or have lots of experience in rectifying botched transplants

Sorry to hear your hair transplant has not turned out as expected.... Do you have pictures to show before and what it looks like now?

I too am sorry to hear you feel your hair transplant has been a failure. Could you post more details with pictures so we can see what has happened?
Have you been in touch with the doctor? If so, what was his response to your concerns?

Are all these pictures post op 12 months onwards?
If not, what was your hair like before and do you have pictures showing where they transplanted?
It is quite possible you have lost more native hair. Are you using any hair loss medications such as Finasteride?
How have they diagnosed you with Alopecia? Did they say a specific type?
Sorry for all the questions, just wanting to get all the facts.

Yes all pics are 3 years on from the op...

Yes it's possible that more native hair has been lost and no i havnt used finasteride before I'm too worried about the side effects and dont really want to be on tablets for he rest of my life

No they just looked at the same pictures and claimed I had alopecia but I suspect its just from overharvesting and had awful bold patches after the surgery and tried minoxidil for a year or so with some improvements to the point there at now

I've attached a picture of the bold spots I was left with but can't find any pictures of my hair before surgery it was over 3 years ago

It looks like really bad shock loss but could also be combined with some form of Alopecia or other condition. Have you seen your GP about this? They could refer you to a dermatologist to see if you have any underlying scalp condition. Before getting a repair, anything that could cause the HT to fail needs ruling out.
Could you ask the clinic for your surgery pictures?
Where did you have the grafts planted? the front half, full head etc.

A few hair clinics I have consulted have stated it could of been Alopecia although the doner area is still very poor its not as bad as it was after surgery it stayed like that for a year and a half

Thats why I've been put off an FUE and leaning more towards getting a FUT this time

No I've not see my GP after a year of using minoxidil it improved a little to the point it is now although I still don't feel confident about it and it looks patchy I've just left it the way it is.. Forgot to mention Dr Tayfun who I enitially had the transplant with said it could of been caused by poor blood circulation

Ive requested my pre and after op pictures from gethair am just awaiting a reply now and was the full head across the top as my hair had receded a lot

I`m adding your before picture and 3 years later to compare. Looking at the before picture I`d say you had the frontal half addressed, surgery pictures will confirm this.
It looks as though your hair loss has progressed further back to your crown. This may be why the result is not as you expected.
Your donor does look depleted, again this could be due to natural thinning, permanent shock loss, some overharvesting or an underlying scalp condition.

I had the whole of the top addressed the Dr at the time said I may only need another transplant to cover the crown of the head but its pretty thin all around... Still awaiting a response for the surgery pictures

How would you advise that I proceed to address the hair?

The 2 clinics which I am considering right now in the UK which have offices on harley Street recommend another FUE of 1500-2000 grafts to fill out the top more and reconstruct the midscalp through to the hairline and temple areas

Another clinic I was considering until they were rude to me recommend the FUT route which is situated in Birmingham

Did you have your donor assessed by them? FUT may be a better option to get more grafts but not being on meds you run the risk of continuing to lose more hair and you could be left with a visible FUT scar.
Take your time researching options, you don`t want to waste what donor you have left.

No I've not had it assessed yet only through the same pictures...
Yes I understand that perhaps I could get SMP done after to give a better look

Which clinic would be most recommended in the UK for repairing this?

Thank you for all the help and advice

You can check out the clinics who post on here, there is a good variety and quite a few repair case examples. Don`t let distance be an issue, find the right clinic you`re happy with.

If a shaved head suits you I would be tempted to have SMP or Tricopigmentation as you have hair so it would give a 3d look and the donor area can be addressed too...

Only if the shaved look suits you mind as it would be a commitment to keep it shaved short all the time.

If not I'd get your donor looked at by a respected clinic on hear to check see if you do have any underlying problems with Alopecia or whether it's just from Shockloss and over harvesting dude.

Good luck pal.

Without the use of Propecia or a generic form you were destined to lose more hair which should have been made clear to you prior to surgery. The hair left is probably what was transplanted. You could have a second surgery but you run the same risk as the first.

Thanks for all the advise!

Surprisingly the Dr who did this surgery is apart of the IAHRS I thought he had good credentials but am so disappointed with the results
I can't believe he's part of the IAHRS now im totally confused with who can be trusted

Anyone have experience of the British hair clinic? Or capital hair restoration? They seem to have good reviews but i understand reviews can be fake and bad reviews deleted

Hi mate, sorry for the the disaster this people caused to you, and it's really disturbing to read that you contacted the doctor and he told you that they can do nothing for you..., hope that you will find a solution. Im also tend to believe that if I was in your shoes I would shave my hair and have a nice tricopigmentation, as you aren't bald and still have hair the trico could be really realistic and you wouldn't need to keep your head shave but buzzed to #2 #3..

All the best my friend.
