How did you conceal your hair transplant

I`m seriously considering a hair transplant with a doctor on here. I'm probably going to go with the FUT method due to my donor density which is below average.

I`m wanting to restore my hairline as it`s receeded around an inch from where it was 5 years ago, the rest of my hair has thinned which is noticeable in normal lighting. I want to beef up the hairline with some density behind.


I would like to know if anyone has experience with concealers and how effective they are at hiding your transplant whilst looking natural as I don`t want people to know if I go ahead. Also how many days post op would I need to wait before applying them?

If your donor density is low it may(will imo)be hard to hide a strip scar and keep hair short at the back and sides,i think a 4 guard maybe as low as you can go.You prob will get 3000 with fue even if your density isnt the best.This maybe sufficient in your case.

I havent had strip i personally think it should be used when fue is maxed out or if you have high donor density because as i said previously it will be harder to see the scar with dense donor,when getting a strip leave your hair grow to maybe to around 1 inch in the donor to cover the work,the problem arises then if you have to buzz your recipient area to plant the grafts(depending on how much native hair you have,this does look odd after with a shaved top and long back and sides imo,with fue you wont have this problem.

It really depends on how long your hair will be on surgery day and just how much hair you have to be effectively "hide" the work from others. You may be able to use existing native hairs to help camouflage the work without using concealers. As for the donor area, keep your hair at least an inch long the day of surgery so that long hairs can easy lay over the sutures/staples. You can always trim up your hair after surgery but if it's too short, it's definately too hard to hide that you had work done.

Check with the clinic you are interested in to find out their recommendation for concealers as each clinic may be different.

You will need to keep your hair longer to cover the transplanted area, as for concealers, I would say Dermmatch will work best in the hairline.

I`ve used DermMatch with Toppik, although not after a transplant, just for concealment of my thinning locks.

appreciate the response`s, at this moment in time I would prefer not to add pictures, although once I`m in the chair I will. I`ll try out some concealers, see what works best, then proceed forward with my chosen doctor.

Sounds good, Toppik should work fine but you may find it a little difficult to apply on the hairline.

Toppik is too hard to apply in my hairline, I end up looking like a chimney sweep.

The applicator gives you much better control for the hairline and donor scar area. Good luck.
