How long do you give the meds ?

You may have seen my post with my updates starting from last August.

I have been on a mix of regaine foam 15% minox from sept once a day and finasteride from 11 nov 2011.

My question is for how long have people seen regrowth of the meds, 12 months ? 2 years ?

Hi sun123

With meds at least 6 months is usually needed to see some difference. It is not only about regrowth but retention and can work differently in each individual. Some come off meds sassuming they didn't work and then lose more hair as in essence it was retaining hair more than promoting hair growth. That said many do get good growth and even on this forum there is a link to such cases.

There can be initial shedding on any medication but usually 6 months to a year people can see a difference in hair quality and density in cases where it is effective.

I am one of those cases. However, I am holding out as long as possible on the meds prior to surgery to see what I can regrow

I've had no retention or regrowth in about 15 months of Cipla Fincar broke into 1/4s.

Then people assess how they want to move forward - ie either happy with progress from meds or look into surgery.
