Thanks for keeping the forum updated with your progress Nor 7, isn't it nice to see new hair coming from places that have been bald for such a long time now!

It is! I wish I could resist the temptation to keep checking on progress though every time a mirror comes close. It is driving me mad!

Hopefully there will be more progress over the next month or two - just 5 months post op at the moment.

Its like a double edged sword this part as it's the worst and the best part of a HT checking in the mirror everyday)(_:: The temptation doesn't get less when you have more HT'S either lol.

Hi BN

I know - Im trying to keep mirrors out of the way, otherwise I wont get any work done at all! The thought of spending the next couple of years (assuming all goes well and I do more procedures) staring at my head is something Im trying to put to the back of my mind! A strong will is needed - so guess I'll find out if I have one, if nothing else.

Cheers dude

Hi nor7,
Looks like your growth has started to come in now, give it a few more months and you should have a lot more plus thickening.

For me the first 4 months are the worst not knowing if your ht is a success or not but come 6 months it gets a lot easier.even second time around its hard I'm not even 2 months and keep looking in the mirror for signs of growth and know from the last time I didn't see anything till about month 3ish.

Time will pass soon enough and you will be back to Dr Farjo for more, happy growing and roll on the next few months for the both of us!

Regards Don.

Thanks for the support guys, much appreciated.

I'll post update pics at 6 mths (in three weeks time). I find taking pics every month or so is a good way of assessing progress. Im going to try to stick to that rather than trying to spot changes day to day - that is going to lead to the madhouse i think!

Best wishes

Hi Guys

I've taken another set of pics from the same angles as last time. These were at just on 24 weeks.

I'm wondering if anyone uses minoxidil or other meds to encourage a bit of quicker growth??

Any advice much appreciated.

Best wishes

Hi nor7,
I use minoxidil (rogaine foam) once a day and nizoral shampoo twice a week.Dont know if its speeding my growth up still looking thin as ever, but after all I'm only 2.5 months from my second ht. but any things worth a try
Good luck.

Hi Don

Thanks for your reply. Where do you buy your Regaine Foam from?

How long into your first HT did you see decent growth coming through? Are you expecting the same timeline again?

Best wishes

I get my regaine foam from a website called minoxidil direct uk and have been doing for years, great service and it's much cheaper than boots.

It was between 3 to 4 months before I saw any signs of growth from my first one and I think between 6 and 8 months was the best in terms of thickening of the hair shaft which gave me the density. I had some shockloss of my existing hair which I don't think grew back I think it was on its way out anyway, maybe if I took propecia I might of saved it but there was to many sides from the drug for me so I came off it.so basically had to go for a second ht to fill it all in all in.Hopefully I will start to see growth in the next few months but from what I've researched it takes longer for the second one to growi in,don't know if its true or not.

I would give the rogaine foam a try if I were you, nothing lost if it doesn't work after all you spent all that money on your hair transplant you may as well do everything to maximise the growth, just my opinion.

Let me know how you get on

Regards don.

Nor7,
Just a little note,
Just been looking at your pics again at its coming in nicely and your still in the early stages, the waiting game is the hardest part I know by my first ht,you always question yourself is it going to work,.but just keep reminding yourself it could take up to 18 months to see the final result, and that you went to a world class' clinic who will always be behind you if you have any concerns.

All the best
don.

Many thanks Don, appreciate your advice and comments.

Im okay with the progress, looking back at the pics month to month helps to keep things in perspective. I try to avoid those blogs that clinics put up showing remarkable results after 5 or 6 months. There will always be super-fast growers I guess and of course I started with nothing.

I will check out the regaine site and run it past Dr F next time Im there.

Cheers Don

Best wishes

Thanks for posting your update Nor 7.

You could try regaine but in my experience from many patients only regrows baby fine hair. I have personally never bothered with it myself which is surprising because I have tried just about everything else!

The guys who are slick bald tend to take longer to see their results in my experience this is down to the lack of blood flow to this area previously. The fast growers nearly always have existing hair before in that area.

Good growing to you!

Thanks guys

I will keep posting my update pics monthly. There is actually more hair there than is shown in the pics - my camera is not the best close up. Fine and immature hair, but hair nonetheless!

I will try to get someone with a better camera to take the next sets of pics in about 3 weeks time.

Best wishes all
