Thanks for your good wishes BM and Bullitnut. Ive had no problems so far on the meds.
One question on minox - what brand do you guys recommend at reasonable cost? Have you heard of Spectral UHP by DS Labs? It seems to be cheaper than the usual Regaine/Kirkland brands. I'm wondering if anyone has used it?

Futurefue - I think you are massively generalising there. Presumably Drs Lorenzo and Farjo are using the same staff, equipment and facilities etc? Mick will be able to explain more, but if that's the case then any differences in results you have spotted must be down to patient characteristics. Speaking just for myself, I did a lot of research before going ahead and looked at masses of patient results online (and some in person). If I had come to your conclusion I would not have gone ahead. My characteristics shouldn't be taken as typical, but I cannot be the only tricky case (Staffie springs to mind as a recent example too) so perhaps a few recent blogs have been unrepresentative. I think Mick's links demonstrate the same. All I can say is that the clinic has been incredibly supportive and helpful to me all the way along the line and I'm very grateful for that. Anyone thinking of going ahead with an HT needs to keep in mind that they might be a tricky case too. Don't just look at the very best results that clinics will post and assume that will be your own experience. Factor in to your decision how the clinic will (or won't in some blogs I've read about other clinics here in the UK) support you if you aren't a brilliant grower.

Hi All, time flies but now 6 months post op (2nd procedure) and I thought I would post some update pics, having popped in to the clinic last week for a meeting with Mick.
Still using the meds (minox and prop) and I'm sure one or both are having an impact. As I think I've said before, I would def recommend you talk to your chosen clinic about using meds as an integral part of the procedure.
The plan is to review progress again towards the end of the year and make a decision then for further work, hopefully we'll be able to take it back some more.

Thanks very much Dazz, much appreciate the comments. I'm really happy with where I am, given I started with nothing at all 18 months ago.A friend of mine says the pics are poor quality (which I knew anyway, as my camera isn,t the best at close ups) and don't do justice to how things look in reality, so I will try to do something about that next time. Speaking with Mick last week, we were actually wondering if the first procedure was now coming through late, as well as the second procedure. I guess the lesson for all is, there are no hard and fast rules here and everyone is different so be patient and go with a clinic that will stay with you through the journey.

You could be having delayed growth from the first procedure, strange things can happen.6 months after the second op the growth is coming along nicely, framing the face and changing your appearance for the better.

I agree with all the other positive comments.....for a guy with such extensive hairloss i think you have come a very long way...still some more to come for sure dude, are you feeling the hair greed we all seem to get following our procedures yet)(_::

Hi BN - thanks for the comments. Yes, I know exactly what you mean about hair greed! I will try to do what more I can, within the bounds of what is technically and financially possible.
Towards the end of the year, we will review where we are and make a plan then. Basically, Im just gonna go one step at a time. Get one area as I want it and then, if possible, move on to do more elsewhere. The thinking at the moment is to bring the hairline down a bit lower (we started quite high as I had a fair old surface to cover) and go back towards the crown. I will likely always have a receded look at the front and probably a bald (or thin look at best) at the crown, but I'm okay with that (for now!). Most guys in their forties are likely to have one or both anyway. If I can get a decent coverage across the main areas that is my main goal. I have been bald most of my adult life so just doing that would be a major achievement for me.

Thanks Dazz, that's very kind of you. And sincere apols for the delay in replying. Ive just got back from a friend's wedding in Italy, which has been a few years in the planning. A fantastic occasion. I got lots of very nice positive feedback from people Id not seen for a while, which was great. The hair came through for me just in time! More than ever, I feel like Im on a life changing journey.

Id just like to name-check Mick at Farjo's, who knew about this event long ago, and how important it was to me, and did everything possible to give me the best chance of going there with a whole new look. Thanks so much Mick.

I will update again with some pics soon.

I like your plan dude...the planning of your overall journey seems great and i think you have a very grounded positive attitude and realistic expectations which is awesome....so glad things went well for you at the wedding!!

My plan is still to review later in the year and see what is available FUT wise. I've taken 2,500 and 1,600 or so already. I'm hoping we might squeeze out another £1,200 or so. Assuming we leave the areas already done this time, the plan would be to use all of that to extend back. Whether I use all of that in a concentrated area of 3-4cm going back, leaving a bald area still, or spread it out thinly, will be for discussion. Right now, I think I would go for the concentrated option and match the density already achieved on top.

There may also be an opportunity to do a small FUE session to bring the hairline down a bit more - just a cm or two - closer to where it would originally have been (all those years ago when nature did the job of creating the hairline!)

Any thoughts/comments/experiences would be most welcome to help the decision!

In the meantime, here are some up to date pics. Hair was a tad wet still when taken.
