I just want a hair at the front to frame my face

I agree with TC if the sides don't drop and you can maintain at a NW5 level it could be possible for you to have a HT that would look realistic and meet your expectations.

Although you state no members of your family are NW6-7 there is always that risk that you could be that odd one out. It happens and i hope it does'nt for you. But as you well know this is something that you are probably considering anyway.

You mention you are happy to use concealors as you know you can not achieve a good density. But in my opinion with light hair, concealors can look quite fake on diffuse light hair. I have found in my experience the darker the hair, the more natural concealors look.

You mention you are considering x2 2000 FUE sessions with Dr De Reys. As you know that is not going to get you great coverage and as you are probably aware you have 2 options the Zinedine Zidane buzzed look or the higher hairline as what has already been suggested.

The good thing for you is that a buzzed look, suits you and if you go for the Zidane look then with a strong hairline at 5-10mm long, and getting shorter as your hair goes further back, with a slick crown then i think that is a perfectly feasible option and if i was your age and in your shoes that is exactly what i would do.

But what happens if you get into your 30s-40s and your sides go and you are heading in the NW6-7 direction, it could look ridiculous and although your family history does not suggest this you need to have a back up plan in case it does.

Which is why the 2nd option of having a higher hairline may be the better long term solution.

Now in terms of back up plans you have body hair FUE, and the possibility of new treatments on the horizon. However i would not have too much faith in new treatments, Finasteride has been around since the late 80s/early 90s and no better drug has yet to come to market, although Avodart is slightly better.

And of course the other option is to do nothing and embrace baldness, which i dont think is what you want to do.

Good Luck.

Thank you for you reply!

In fact, I am 100% sure why won't go NW6 or 7 because, you can clearly see where the hair are thinning and where they aren't. My friends pointed that I had "dark stains" on the upper surface of my sides.

It's because I shave 0 mm on the sides and 3 on the top, and some of the surface on the top is still completely full, typicial NW5 in fact.

On the picture below, you can see how I look with concealers, well, 2 years ago when I still had enough hair to put it on :). I'm very dark blond in fact.

Higher hairline, I don't know, some people already called me fivehead when I was 14, well the french equivalent. I'll just ask De Reys my original hairline ^^.

The difference can only be described as stunningly dramatic and points out exactly why hair becomes so important for men in their 20's.

Without trying to persuade you either way you look much, much younger in this photo using concealer.

Thank you :)

I'm glad I know those solutions exist, dermmatch, FUE, etc.

I'll see Dr De Reys again for a second consultation in May, I'll see by then. But I think that if I go for it, the FUE will be scheduled in september or october as he's pretty busy. He told me I still can cancel the surgery one month before.

I see nothing that would make me happier in my life than doing this right now. That is, if it all goes according to the plan. This is the only thing that gets me really really down at times, seeing I'm reaching the end of the line and that I'll soon have an endless forehead (De Reys told me I've got 5 years before I'll be completely slick but still).

Go for it via FUE through a reputable clinic. If the shit hits the fan down the line you can have the option to buzz really short. I can get away with buzzing down to 1mm and unguarded without evidence of surgery in my opinion. And for sure to the untrained eye. I would guess you would get 4000 FUE, prob 4500 max.

As much as i hate to say it, the concealers do work well as per pics but they are a bit of a trap and can be restrictive. A necessary evil though for many. Although i will say they saved my ass for a good while. They did the job to the extent where it made my work look undetectable as people were not aware of the loss i was hiding pre HT.

I cannot believe that you cant do Milenas SMP. http://www.beautymedical.it/images/feedback/Emanui1200x600.jpg this person looks like they have light colored hair. I have not heard any stipulations of color unless your hair is quite blonde. I've heard they can do light brown. If I were you I would still be exploring this option.

I haven't had it but I plan to. I'm just going on what I've read and the clinics I've talked to.

Okay youngn I guess I just don €™t get it when I see recommendations from someone for something they themselves have not personally experienced. I tend to look at this as encouraging others to go ahead and do something then just sit back to see what happens and then use the information for their own benefit. This is probably not the case but I have grown so suspicious of much of what I see posted to forums that or course it €™s going to be natural for me to ask.

I will remember you name for sure. When have you scheduled your procedure and will you be opening up a thread with details and pictures. Maybe you can start a thread now so that we can see where you are starting from, thanks.

I will schedule a procedure as soon as someone in the US is capable of doing shaved head Trico-Pigmentation well. I am just giving my input to Fred from what I have researched, because it seemed like that's the route he wanted to go. MAYBE the person at ProHairClinic was talking about permanent SMP. In that case they generally only use shades of black. I consulted with Joe from Hasson & Wong, and Matt from Shapiro and neither of them said it would be a problem with brown hair.

Fred, I would also like to add that you might look into Keratene Alphactive Retard. The studies showed a large reduction in DHT but Testosterone levels stayed the same, which PROBABLY means estrogen levels would stay the same (hence no gynecomastia).

Topccat, we are all here to share information. Don't be so suspicious. If I lived anywhere near Italy I would have already had this done with Milena. 100%

Youngn only suggested that Fred explore milena lardis services in regards to SMP with lighter hair, something he seemed interested in but was told was not possible. I wouldn't say he recommended it.

I will never touch a drug, whether it's internal or topical, that affects hormones even to a negligeable degree. Living with gynecomastia for 6 months was the hardest experience of my life, harder than losing my hair so, no keratene shampoo or even nizoral for me.

If the representative of the prohairclinic and one of the make-up artists confirmed me temporary SMP was not possible, I guess I'll just believed them. It wasn't Milena Lardi but I know she works with them. They said I was too blond. I'm still doubting I'm not a candidate, as some people say I have pretty dark hair for a blond person. It's a shame because I know I'll never grow my hair out again, even after my FUE's, if I go for them. So Temporary SMP would have been perfect.

I'll keep you updated on how it goes for my second consultation with Dr De Reys :).

Okay I see, maybe I €™m just too sensitive to the issue. I have a policy of not taking advice from anyone who does not have actual experience. This does not mean I am right it €™s just how my own experiences have shaped me. So I tend to observe what others do while listening to what they say and if they don €™t match up I like to ask why.

Fred

If you dye your hair darker, once you have had a transplant (if you go ahead) quite possibly you may be a candidate for SMP. Im no expert though.

Maybe FUE and then temp SMP would be a good combination. But the contrary is just not possible apparently. I wouldn't need to dye my hair, check my picture with the dermmatch a few posts above :).

My second consultation with Dr De Reys went very well. I've scheduled my first FUE for October 2013. 2000 grafts for the front with a NW2 hairline (my original hairline).

After examining the donor, he said I could have up to 4500 grafts extracted. I've seen a case that is similar to mine the results forums so I'm hopeful it will turn out well for me. I'll keep you updated in October :).
