Hi all , am looking for advice on hair transplant,
Am a 55 year old male with thinning hair , I do still have a full head of hair and no bald spots as such but the hair is very thin and can easy see the scalp on the top especially when wet , this is been going on for about 10 years and to try and slow the process down I did started to take one Finasteride 1 mg tablet a day for the past two and a half years , and also I use Alpecin shampoo and the combination of the two I think maybe slowed the process down of hair loss.

The why I want to do this is because I really don’t want to go bald , its not a vain thing as some men do look good bald its just not for me, i have the fear and really have problems mentally with it , might seam silly to some people , but we all have our fears and this is mine

So the main point is at 55 years of age can i have a successful hair transplant that will last into to my later years

If any of the older males out there have had it done, either good or bad results I would love to hear from you

thanks if you had read this post

Looks to be diffuse thinning which if you have it under control with the fin you should be ok to get a hair transplant. In the clinic sections there are results posted showing 50 year and older.

It does appear you have diffuse thinning which is best treated with hair loss medications that you’re using. Oral minoxidil is another option to promote growth.
If you loss has stabilised, then I’d say you’re a decent candidate for surgery. As long as you stick with the meds, the transplant should last a long time, maybe even a lifetime.
Do you have a picture from a few feet away?

I hope these ones help
Also how much grafts and much would it cost to have a treatment done
I did look into a London clinic but they wanted a £100 up front which did come off if you went through with the treatment , but I feel that’s a bit pressure to go with someone that maybe that you think is maybe not right for you

Can’t tell anything from those pictures as your hair is styled to cover the thin areas. Would need you hair combed forward with a similar angle to the first picture in the above post.
As for consults. Lately, in demand clinics have been charging for consults. One reason is that people will use them for a free consult with no intention of using them. They just want the appraisal and then look for a cheaper alternative. This is why you should research clinics. When you’ve decided on ther clinics you’re interested in, then arrange consults. It could be the best money you spend and lets face it, you’re having something done that potentially affects your appearance for a lifetime.

It probably seems like I’m criticizing your pictures but I’m not. This picture is a little dark, but looking at it it appears you have decent hair. If you feel the Finasteride is not improving you may wish to look at other options such as Dutasteride or oral minoxidil.
If the Finasteride is working by maintaining your hair, then it will be down to you if you feel you’d like to add density via a hair transplant.
