Keep monitoring it, if it does thin more try the meds to maintain but read up on possible side effects first.

Will do BM. Do you think it has thinned more compared to the previous photos at the start of the thread?

No, it's the same as the beginning. You could get your hair checked for miniturization by a Tricologist or hair transplant doctor, if it is ib the early stages of miniturization then you can decide if you want to try the FDA approved meds Propecia (Finasteride) Minoxidil (Rogaine) or maybe look at natural alternatives such as Saw Palmetto.

You're obviously very worried about your crown, if I could turn back the clock to when I was 24 and thinning, had all this information on the web, I would have went for a consultation with one of the above specialists. As it happens my crown was thinning at this age but back then there was no easy accessible information out there to help. If I'd known about Meds back then, I would have definately tried them and possibly I would never have needed a hair transplant(s).
hope that helps.

Thanks BM. Do you know of any hair loss transplant doctors in London or in the UK that check for miniaturisation? I can't find anyone though Google.
Thanks

If you're in or near London just google for London hair transplant clinics, there are lots in London. Dr Erdogan from Asmed is doing consults this month, you only need to make a small donation to charity to see him.

Thanks I'll look into that. I saw a trichologist today who was accredited by the Institute of Trichologists.

She looked through my crown and around my crown with one of those microscopes attached to a computer. She showed me my hair a and all the strands were the same thickness. She said I didn't have miniaturisation or any valus hairs or something. I'm not sure what that meant.

Lastly she said my hair was very greasy, which she said could be down to my scalp eczema (i'm currently flaring quite badly on my face and parts of my hair). I could see the grease on each of the hairs, even though my hair was washed only 24 hours ago. Will this make a difference?

Should I still go and see Dr Erdogan or another hair loss surgeon?

Seeing the doc is your decision' maybe worth it for a secind opinion. The Trichologist seems to have examined your scalp thoroughly. Did she recommend a shampoo to treat your greasy hair?

Yes I think I'll try and visit a hair loss surgeon/doctor. Do you have any other recommendations for doctors in London/UK, as I've checked the Dr. Erdogan thread, and he states he will only take the best candidates for hair transplants due to time constraints. I don't think I'll be that high on the list.

The Trichologist recommended a shampoo, I've got it written down somewhere but it's kinda pricy for my student budget, it was roughly £10 a bottle or something and made with natural ingredients.
She also recommended some supplements like Zinc and funnily enough, Biotin too, but she said it was mainly to treat the scalp eczema I have and the greasiness. I am taking 1000/2000 Biotin a day anyhow.

Any further recommendations BM? You've been a great help I really appreciate it!

P.S - This is what my hair looked like a few hours before the Trichologist visit (washed 12/15 hours before):

The news you got from the Trichologist was good news. Using a product to help with the greasy condition will help you look more dense also. Personally, I don't believe you need to see a HT physician at this time. I think that you really don't currently have an issue that warrants the need. Read the info regarding the meds and see if it is something that you want to try.

Thanks Nelly. Do you think I should start Fin/Rogaine? Or do you think I'm ok for now? As I don't understand the last bit of your post.

I think everyone is of the same opinion, your hair looks fine right now but if it is right at the beginning of starting to thin you may want to check into using meds, that's got to be your choice.

Thanks BM. I will post back over the summer months to see how my crown area is doing.
Thank you and everyone else for all the advice. I really appreciate it.

Maybe pictures are deceiving but I'm surprised to hear you have greasy hair. Doesn't look greasy to me.
My opinion too is that you should hold off on any medications until you notice more loss. You may end up not losing any since the trichologist verified you don't have miniaturised hairs where she scanned. I agree with NN that there's really no need to see a ht physician at this stage. This is all good news and hope you're able to not worry about loss for now.

Thanks everyone. I am going to keep my hair like it is now without any medication. I will post a photo soon of it shaved/level 1, and will post back every couple of weeks/months.

Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
