Hi guys,

For the past 4-5 months I have had a s***load of shedding every single day. I mean, I run my fingers through my hair and I can see strands on them and if I just lightly stroke my hair I can see strands falling. I wake up and see 5/6 strands on my pillow, I take a shower and lose at least 40 strands of hair. Putting gel on I can see 5/6 strands on my hands. It's really unbearable.

I had VERY thick hair throughout my childhood, so much so that I couldn't sport some styles. That's all gone now and I'm really worried because my hair is my best feature so you can imagine how I'd look without it.

Here are the pictures...

The hair is a lot finer than it was before and as you can see from the sides people can clearly see my scalp.

Please help.

First thing to note here is the natural telogen, exogen and anagen process (hair falls out for new hair to grow).

A full head of hair consists of around 100,000 follicles and we will naturally lose between 70-100 hairs a day. This is perfectly normal and applies to both men and women.

The second thing is to look at MPB in your family. Your hairloss with age will follow someone in your family, the problem is to find out who. This should give you a good prediction of what is to come and will give you an idea of what to look out for and how to work with it. The problem here is that this is more guesswork than scientific on an observational basis only.

Looking at your pictures though, everything looks fine. Androgenic alopecia tends to occur exclusively on the frontal area, top of the head, temples and crown. The fact that you claim to have thinning everywhere (including back and sides) indicates that you're shedding hair normally.

It is still prudent to keep an eye on your hairline, but I see no evidence that you should obsess over it at this stage.

Cant see any thinning in crown. The hairs swirl out in all directions so some scalp will always be visible here on everyone.Hairline might be maturing which most people get between your age and 25 or so but cant see any probs from photos.
