Hello,
I am 22 years old and I started losing hair 5 months ago. I had really thick density of hair, no receding or anything, and I was never concerned about my hair until suddenly 5 months ago when I was massaging with OIL and noticed a lot of hair fell because of the massage, I massage scalp slowly so that I do not destroy the hair follicles.
I am the youngest in my family and have the worst hair; I now have a receding hairline and a lot of dandruff; I shower three times a week because the dandruff always come back.

I have gut issues that I can't figure out what causing it; I've been to the doctor for two years, and my stool test discovered indigestion and mucus in the stool.
So, are gut issues and hair loss related, and if not, can I go on finasteride? If I have gut issues, I'll ofcourse consult with my doctor first, but I'm just looking for some more advice.

Hello @chapala, hair loss at any age can be distressing. But when younger more so. Around your age, your hair will be changing naturally, as will your body, due to hormonal alterations. With your hair, for example, you hear people talking about a maturing hairline. This is not necessarily linked to the genetic male pattern baldness. For that, you may look at either side of your family members. Your stomach complaint, on the face of it, should not interfere with taking finasteride. Although as said, you should seek medical advice before starting. Dandruff, there are many good products available if not using one already. Nizoral for instance, but many can help. You are starting the correct way, looking at hair loss treatments. Maybe post some images here for better advice. Good luck

Thank you for your response; you are probably correct that it might not be androgenic alopecia.
I forgot to mention that it not only affected my scalp hair but also other part of my body (Beard, Eyebrows, Eyelashes, Chest and Legs hairs are also falling) which makes it frustrating. I had fully grown beard 5 Months ago, not anymore its patchy now. Pictures below: (if more pictures are required pls let me know ill post tomorrow)

About MPB: both my father and mother side has Androgenic alopecia

Hello @chapala, It´s hard to say much regarding your scalp hair, except at present you still have a lot of it. But aspects such s density, quality, etc can´t be judged well from the pictures. Your beard and other areas. Have you had any fever, or infection, possibly related to your stomach as you have mentioned. But that has been over some time. Stress, poor health, diet, and more can cause telogen effluvium. If you are seeing an increased shedding of hair. This normally calms down over a few months. A blood test may be a good starting point for you.

Hello, Thanks for taking your time to reply again i really appreciate it.
Which particular blood test are you talking about. I have got CBC and TSH done 3 months ago both were normal

Hello @chapala, the Complete Blood Count (CBC) includes checking hemoglobin levels. An iron-rich protein. TSH test measures hormones. As a result, the TSH levels are too high or too low can be a sign of a thyroid condition. But, you´ve had recent tests for both. Either would be obvious conditions to be considered affecting hair growth.

Whether you have suffered from a high fever or recovering from an illness. In the past few months. Hair loss is possible. Telogen effluvium, as I mentioned earlier. When more hairs are shed than regrow. Fever or illness can certainly induce more hairs into the shedding phase. Also, whether you have started medication in recent months. As some have a side effect of hair loss while being used.

Your hair looks good in those pictures. If you are experiencing hair loss from other parts of your body it sounds like it’s not MPB but something else.
