Mr T,

There are numerous clinics in Belgium alone who should be able to help you, however, due to Govt regulations ACell is NOT allowed there or any parts of Europe just yet. I'm not sure about Vitrase so you'd have to check with individual clinics as to whether they offer it. There are only handful of clinics offering it in the States that I'm aware of. We've only started offering it 5-6 months ago so it's relatively new for us.

Question from Mr T on another thread -

"Janna, with regards to my situation, if I were to go for a strip, how likely would my current scar improve? If any improvement at all?"

Are you asking strip with graft harvesting or purely a scar revision?

The more grafts you try to harvest, the more risk of scar stretching back. At what point in the three previous procedures did your scar stretch? Was it only after the 3rd session? You say the worst of it is 1cm width? If your skin is prone to stretching despite having loose skin in the back, then the odds of achieving a fine line scar is lower in those same 1cm width scar sections. But it does help to have ACell and Vitrase to increase your odds. What Dr. Shapiro did for Sparta includes the two applications of ACell and Vitrase but also a new closure technique especially designed for scar repair cases.

Hi Mr T,

I`m pleased to hear you have been in touch with the docs rep and have arranged a meeting.

Hopefully the pictures he will take can be forwarded to you to post on here and you can let us know what the doc advises for your scar repair.

One thing that i realised is that you said the doc never mentioned that your scar could stretch due to your skin characterisrtics but in his email to you he says the following,

As you may recall, I told you that flexible skin such as yours is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that you can grab more hair out of the

donor area in a sitting, but a curse in that the skin will always stretch far more than the norm as the scar forms. We discussed that in detail prior to your last two

procedures and I remember it well as patients like yourself come to us from time to time

It would appear there was some confusion on your part, anyway i do hope you can resolve your situation and have the scar repaired or improved.

Hi Mr T

I would be very cautious were Acel is involved , I can agree with other posters who have had acel that initially the donor feels less tight and appears to heal quicker , however i found later on , with the softer skin came a larger scar

Of course this was two years ago and things may of changed since then , however how many patients have had acel since me ? and were are the results ?..... Im led to believe Dr Bernstien had some results and was less than impressed (any updates re this would be appreciated )

From what I have seen Dr Feller stands by his patients and wants whats best for them , i would speak to him re fue into the scar, please keep us updated with what you decide

all the best

Dear All

Just to resolve any confusion, as my posts may have been min-interpreted...

I was told that before my 3rd HT that my scar may stretch... And that I was given the option of a refunded deposit had I not want to go ahead, but I did...

If any confusion was caused, then apologies, but was not my intention in any way shape or form...

Will keep you all posted on what I decide to do

I will be meeting Spex next Thursday and will post clearer pics of my situation...

Regards

Mr T

ejj, good point, I might wait until patients from Shapiro have gone through 6-12 months before deciding on what to do... just to see their results

I would not want fue into the scar, as I sse it as a waste of grafts, if my scar doesnt stretch as more than it has, I may opt for my last strip, leaving me with fue for a later stage...

may go for strip, then scar revision in a year

will see what Dr Feller and other top doc's advise

but not going to rush into anything just yet... maybe looking at March before having anything done...

All the best

Mr T

True, but Dr Lindsey is good at scar revision...
he doesn't do beard hair

I want beard hair, don't want to use doner scalp for fue just yet, saving that for a rainy day, plus, fue will work out cheaper for me from bhr..

I had 2 hair transplant ops with dr feller in 2008 and 2010
Not happy
When i said I still wasn't happy after my second op dr feller just kept palming me off
Also it's funny how spex does not advertise for dr feller anymore ?
I dont rate dr feller

I haven`t heard of the doctor before until I read this post as I`m looking at options for scar repair myself. I think FUE will work best because it is a natural body part to use, not artificial like SMP. A tattoo is a possibility but only as a last resort.

Hello I went to dr feller in 2008 and 2010
I was not happy after my 2nd op and explain 2 dr feller
He got very very defensive about it and also threatened me with sueing me
Funny how spex does not advertise for him now ???

I don`t know and not heard of them. It`s probably best to forget about them, move on and look for a solution like I`m doing. If they did not care then, they certainly won`t care now.
What options have you tried or checked into?
