Its exactly 3 months since having my hair transplant. I haven't had my hair cut since the transplant, I've just left it to grow. I think the results are pretty rubbish at the moment as the hair I had before the transplant hasn't grown back, possibly hair shock perhaps. I haven't contacted Cosmedica because their communication is very poor. So, I am pretty much on my own waiting to see if the HT works without support from the HT team.

Time will tell if it works I guess. Here are a couple of pictures. The donor area looks fine, I haven't included a picture of the back of my head as its a bit difficult to do on my own, but it looks good anyway.

Hi mate. Fingers crossed for you.

I'm literally on the verge of booking my HT with Cosmedica for next month, but this has been one of my main concerns. Losing the hair I still have in the recipient area.

Do you (or anyone else that's been to Cosmedica) know what size the blades they use are ?
I'm of the understanding that if the incisions are small/refined using custom cut or smaller blades, then this would cause less trauma to the scalp and reduce the possibility of shock loss/permanent shock loss.

I have emailed Cosmedica, but it does take some time for them to reply, so thought I would check with the guys that have already been.

Thanks in advance.

Early days yet Jimmy, just keep eating well and taking the pills interesting to note about the hair shock never herd of it! Have you been taking propecia or finasteride before? I read that hair shock is more common when transplanting for density which seems to be your case..

Still very early days mate! Some People don't usually start seeing results until the 8-12 month period. Maybe start a new thread with regards to your concerns and see if people can help out in any way....

Yes, way to early to tell anything mate. Keep taking the pills and minoxidil and wash your hair with some good biotin shampoo and I'm sure hairs will grow.

Thanks for your support and guidance. Visually there is no change, but when I move my fingers through the HT area I can now feel stubbles of new hair growth. So at 3.5 months this is quite promising and from a psychological point of view it helps me to stay optimistic about the procedure.

There are of course still gaps and I need to see a lot more new hair growth for it to be deemed a successful transplant. The left front side (if you face me) is slightly thicker than the right side.

I took minoxidil for 10 years and it helped to keep my existing hair, but it is not something I want to continue with post HT and I don't take Propecia either. I do however take the vitamins I posted earlier. So because of this I can expect my hair growth to be slower than other members of the forum.

I think that I will need a second transplant maybe in a couple of years time, which is fine.

I had my first haircut last week and had the hairdresser just use scissors. She was quite interested in the procedure and frankly having this done doesn't embarrass me anyway considering I went back to work after 2 days of having it done.

Well you may say then why do I hide my face, but internet privacy is a different story all together :)

Anyway, any visual change and you'll be the first know.

One more thing, my HT area is always itchy. Its not infected or anything I think its just perhaps the new hairs growing through the skin? That's my theory anyway.

I never mentioned this before, but in the donor area I had a lot of spots appearing which were quite painful which perhaps was ingrown hairs. After 3 months its all ok now.

I'll stop babbling now.

Hi Jimmie thanks for the update. You seemed to have a lot of hair loss before the Op so i would say for sure you will need another transplant. With regard to the hair growing on one side this it what happened to a friend of mine who had the transplant in turkey and it was the start of his growth. It all leveled out and now he has a massive head of hair of which I am really jealous thats 12 months ago. I think you are finding it start to grow now! All the best!

Hi Jimmie,
I'm about 3.5 months post surgery (second surgery with Cosmedica/Medical Park, first one was back in August 2013 and I happy with the results so I went back for another one to get more volume). Currently, I can feel some hair about to start growing. I will share pictures next month when I'm post 4.5 months because thats when some hair starts to grow (baby hair). You'll notice the results and difference around 7th month (which was in my case). Thats when you start taking selifes and a lot of pictures with friends lol (unlike before, pictures had to be from certain angles :T:).
Hope this helps, and keep us posted!

Its now been 6 months since I had my hair transplant. The numbness near the front top area of my head started to ease at month four and is no longer numb at all. The transplanted area is still itchy, but hopefully that is a good sign in that new hairs are still coming through the scalp. The transplanted area is not as thick as I would like it to be, I will just have to wait and see if there will be further new growth. I still can't say at this point that its been a total success, but I have a further six months to go before I can say whether this was a success or not. My hair is quite light so I think that also makes it look quite thin in transplanted area in comparison to someone with dark hair.

Hi Jimmie thanks for the update! It looks great so far and far better than it was to start. Id say your in for some more growth as it took a while to grow! How long did it take for your redness to fade?>?

Hi Jimmie
Things are looking good. You are still early in your process so you should get more hair the next months. I had the most hair growth around 8 month, since then it just gotten thicker. So give it some time and it should be nice :)

The redness was pretty much gone at month 5. Good to know you had further growth much later on. Thanks for the replies.

Hi Jimmie
Its still early you could be a slow grower so keep positive the design is starting to take shape which suits you , hopefully things will move on in the next couple of months thanks for posting mate .
