My Hair Transplant with Dr. Collins - Blackrock Clinic Ireland

I have been a patient of Dr Collins in Dublin for some time and I have only ever heard good things mentioned about him and I have always been very impressed by him and his entire team.
They very carefully managed my expectations too which made the whole process over the years a lot easier for me.

I had a Hair Transplant there on 22nd September! And I feel great after it.
I have no scabs, swelling, pinkness or pain, my hair was not shaved in the recipient area and even though it was just over 24 hours ago it is undetectable.
My scalp is in perfect condition and my friend could not see anything there, I had to point out a graft to him as he could not notice anything there even close up.

I wanted to share this experience on here as it has been so amazing and positive. The internet can be a source of fear for those going through this, to my mind having a good surgeon is essential to the success.

I find it a little hard to believe that you had a H.t yesterday and there is no sign of surgery performed, they must be good?

Well its not what I was expecting from looking at photos online, the recipient area looks normal (ie my scalp is perfect) and there is no way of detecting anything was done there.
The only visible sign are the short hairs that were transplanted and I have to point them out to people or they dont notice.
I have decent but thin coverage anyway and it was not shaved for the procedure.
No scabs no pinkness no swelling there. I might take a photo tomorrow, day 3 as I have been misting so the hair is wet at the moment.

The donor area is hidden by my hair too so cant be seen.

One thing I will mention about photos is that the most traumatic part of my experience is when I went online looking at photos all day coming up to my procedure, this caused a lot of un-necessary fear and anxiety at the time and its prob better to go through that research well in advance of your decision.

I had 1200 grafts in a single procedure. I actually, after 3 days went out last night to my local pub for a couple hours with friends and nobody noticed a thing., only one of them know about it.
I actually felt confident going out that nobody would which is fantastic.
I might put some pics up somewhere but a bit shy about it.

Hi Dublin Guy

I feel very confused and curious about your posts on this thread.

Was this your only procedure? If so can you explain how you have been a patient for some time with Dr Collins?

How are you feeling now 5 days post op? Any swelling, redness or any signs of surgery kicking in yet? I think if you really want to share your experience then pictures would be a great help to others.

Your case if it's as you say could be very reasuring to others.

All the best

Hi guys, I am taking photos but I am a little shy about posting them online.
This is my only procedure, I'm only 34 so I was very nervous before it.
I feel fine now going into day 5, I am a little tender in the donor area but dont need any painkillers anymore and am sleeping well.
I have a very small swelling on my forehead which nobody except me would notice and apart from that I feel good.
The following 2 photos I took last night 72 hours after my procedure.

I have good coverage already but thin so I am well camouflaged.
I have been a patient for nearly 7 years as I have been taking finisteride for all that time and was actually please for about 5 years with the results from it with rogaine.

Second photo is less sharp but under a spotlight, again after 72 hours.
You can see my thinning hair at the front here which is where I had the grafts inserted.

And slightly less close-up, again after 4 days.

I had 1,200 grafts transplanted using Ultra Refined FUT by Dr Maurice Collins and his team at HRBR Blackrock, Dublin
I could not be happier!

Hi Dublinguy,

Congrats on your procedure. I know Dr. Collins well. He has his patients spray saline every 15 minutes around the clock after surgery so it's not surprising your recipient sites look so clean. It'd be a good idea to start your own thread in the patient posting section. We don't see many of Dr. Collin's patients results so it'd be great to follow yours.

We're here to support you thru your progress, don't be shy. ;)

Thanks Janna, it's great to have your support.
I have pretty much done most of the healing already and I took a photo of my donor area today, day 5.
If the sutures were not still in place I would not have been able to find it.
I'm extremely please so far, and can't wait for my new hair to grow :)

Hi, I dont know the exact definition of URFUT, but the idea seems to be a higher standard than the Gold Standard FUT by means of refining the techniques and using the most precise of instruments to get the best results possible.

The best written description I could find on this is on another site
http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/Hair-Loss-Treatments/dense-follicular-units.asp.
Perhaps someone that knows more about this could start a new topic on it?

Hi Dublinguy.

I see you had 1200 grafts, have you any pre op pictures from the clinic and any top down pictures.

Could you ask Dr Collins for your graft/hair count, also where was the work done, was it your frontal third or frontal half.

Thanks bm.
