North America verses rest of the world for Fue!! Has North America fallen behind when it comes to Fue? More and more North Americans appear to be travelling across the world for Fue. What do you think?

Well, I would totally agree with your statement and reason being getting same quality of service at a much lower price. India in this regards can be named as one of the place which witnessed a boom of late in respect of medical tourism related to hair transplant. I believe that you might be on to something Cisco and in general medical tourism has probably gained some ground over the years in the USA and that can most definitely be seen with FUE.

My wife arranged for a few people to have dental work performed in her native country. Although it €™s not hair transplantation it is similar. To give you an idea one of the friends a singer at a local club here in Chicago wanted to have all his teeth capped. Cost here in the US would have been just around $20,000. He made the trip and the cost there was approximately $1500 depending on the exchange rate which is actually much better now that the dollar has gained some ground. With the cost of the airline ticket about $1000 yes sometimes the price difference can be substantial.

Sometimes it €™s only the fear of traveling to the unknown that is the greatest hurdle and one does want to remain safe. My wife has nephews in her native country that helped to ease the fear. Of course not all dentists are going to be equal and the same would apply with hair transplantation.


As clinics overseas ease the concern for the unknown and more patients make the trip others probably find it easier.

There's no link Dr Maneesh. I have witnessed on a different site more U.S. Citizens travelling to India for treatment.

Topccat I believe they are combining these trips making a vacation at the same time. It's something I'm strongly considering.

A better way to look at might be by understanding the term €œyoung and hungry €. Older people who have been doing things a certain way tend to keep doing those things the same way. It €™s the same reason companies in general will hire those that are younger. They are open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. They may not have the experience but they overcompensate with their drive and determination. They will often work as hard as possible and do whatever it takes to get to the top.

When it comes to performing medical procedures though young and hungry for most patients is simply not enough, experience plays a huge role and can €™t be dismissed.

The solution €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..look for those that were young and hungry 10 years ago €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.does that make any sense?

What may be strange to read for many is the fact that many native Indian and Turkisch people fly to Europe to get top quality FUE.

In terms of technique? NO. Turkey and India offer cheaper costs per graft so people are flying to known and unknown clinics. Start up costs for fue is very low in comparison to clinics who'd need 5+ techs, microscopes, etc for strip surgeries. It's easy for clinics to open up and offer fue from the git go and basically practice on unsuspecting patients. Patients are then told to wait a year for results.

I recently saw on another forum two patients who had fue work in Turkey. Their donor looks totally sparse. One is at 2 months and the other at 10 months. Both were told it's shock loss. The top didn't look any better either. ;ss;

During my first trip to Turkey in late May I intereviewed one patient from the Middle East whose friends had also gone to Turkey for procedures and he said they all wound up with depleted donor zones from the first procedure which is why he did not wind up going to teh same places they went to. The amount of work being done there is amazing and both times I was there I saw a half dozne patients of multiple clinics walking around the lobby or eating breakfast at the same time I was. I've never seen anything remotely like it in my life.

Most of them heading every year to Turkey for more affordable transplant but they need to make sure if surgeon is certified or it's so called professional who have work under surgeons calling himself surgeon.
