Norwood 6 hair transplant options.

Does anyone know how achievable it is for a norwood 6 to have the appearance of a full head of hair again? I know it would be thin coverage all over with maybe the hairline slightly denser. The best options available seem to be strip surgery when donor is limited. I was thinking of having some beard hairs via fue thrown in to add density.
I`d like to grow the hair long with a view to having it slicked back. This first picture is the look I`d like to achieve.

I don't know what your donor hair is like, but I have seen some amazing results from Dr Lorenzo on high norwoods using FUE over several procedures.

Definitely worth an online consult and see what he recommends. I am personally not a big fan of having a strip, especially if you want to keep your hair really short. Having said that, strip probably still gives you your best bang for your buck, check out Hasson & Wong and maybe get in touch with Garageland here.

As said be good to see donor and from a level perspective and full profiles of sides and rear also to show nape.

Most with NW6 loss would need to have a Strip or Strip/FUE combination purely to harvest the grafts needed for such a restoration and good density and laxity would be needed to get a high amount of grafts.

You would be wise to have assessments in person with doctors and see what your donor would give and if your goals could be met and possibly a change of goals may also work if needed but it really all starts with the donor and that needs to be thoroughly assessed to see what it can give for you and go from there.

As said better photos would be a good starting point also if possible for an initial assessment.

Honestly your situation is a tough one as it looks like you are very close to a 7 if not already there. Your lateral humps have dropped and the crown has fully opened up. As a result the sides need to be rebuilt so a mature hairline can then be established.

I would only recommend considering doing anything if you have above average density, good laxity and at least medium to coarse hair. Anything that could be done would not include covering the entire area. You would be looking at establishing a mature hairline and coverage into the mid scalp. The crown would have to remain as it is in my opinion it would not even be worth considering trying to cover as there is just too big an area to make any kind of meaningful density.

You need to have some in person consultations with several clinics to canvas opinion and think carefully about what you do and if you wish to go down this route.

It's hard to say if the first pic (your desired look) has coverage throughout the crown as well as the top and front. I'm going to guess that the crown is very, very thin. You have a high degree of loss, everyone agrees on that. You'd have to be okay with 4000-6000 lifetime donor supply to cover your whole head. How you want it distributed is up to you and your physician. You'd probably want to check out other patients' results with similar hair characteristics to see if you think you'd be fine. In your case, I'd recommend strip procedure, or perhaps shaving the sides and back shorter.

Thanks guys and girls for the advice. In the example picture I posted the guys before picture has native hair still hanging in there, I'd like the majority of transplanted grafts to cover from the hairline to this point with sparser coverage in the crown which will enable concealers something to attach themselves to.
My hair which remains in the safe zones is really thick so I think I have good donor although somewhat limited. I have tried the shaved look, didn't like it one bit.


I work long hours with alternating shifts which make it difficult to visit clinics for consultations. I will have holiday entitlement in the coming months which I will use to visit some clinics. If I'm not working I will be browsing the site checking out all the results.
