Question about etiquette

This question has not been prompted by any recent posts.

Suppose someone posts about a HT that they have just had, and you feel there is something wrong. For example, the hairline looks insufficiently packed or the crucial hairline line from transplant to natural hair doesn't look right.

Do you say something? Or nothing? Do you risk causing the patient to worry?

I've been posting here for a while, so hopefully you'll know I'm not rude, and that I choose my words carefully. Even so, I don't know the right way to approach this. I care very much about how my words might be taken.

Good questions and such a sensitive topic.

A lot of the time it's so difficult to tell, either because the photographs are poor or it's very early in the game. Bearing that in mind, if sufficient time has passed after a hair transplant (let's say a year?) and the photos are good quality, then I think it is best to be honest. You may have strong feelings about a hair transplant at 5 months, but you can't express it with certainty and causing anxiety certainly will not help.

It might also be worth considering what the patient's case was like prior to surgery. For example a Norwood 7 would be happy with my Norwood 2.5 prior to surgery. Goals and expectations are very personal.

Personally I don €™t respond to results much as they usually speak for themselves. Sometimes when I €™m really amazed I do post a comment as the work is so stunningly good.

When I see a really crap result which have been plenty I don €™t comment on the result itself but might just ask some general questions, unless the poster asksfor a reply to be brutally honest which does happen.

I have seen some results over the years especially with body hair where I thought to myself oh my God why did the doctor do this to this guy but of course I don €™t post that no need to make the patient feel bad.

I have had some posters on forums like Hairsite post that my result was shit, blah, blah blah, pubic hair on your head, blah, blah, you should shave it off etc. But in all honesty it makes me laugh. The same forum allowed another Gho poster to put up a video link of gay porn stating that it was topcat as the participant along with some other posters €¦ €¦..lol €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦how can you not laugh at that but then I €™m 50, young guys might take it more to heart.

Actually those types of comments say more about the forum itself than my result. It tells me the owner is a scumbag and doesn €™t care about guys coming to his forum looking for answers. I €™m sure in his mind they are all assho*es that he needs to deal with so that he can make money from his sponsors. Hopefully others can see that so I don €™t sweat it.

Great topic this, I comment on most results but if I see one I don't particularly like I will comment usually if the patient is unhappy or asking for advice... But if a patient is happy with their results and I am not so enthusiastic about it then I will try to keep of the thread because their happiness is what matters. It's hard sometimes not to offend though as with the very nature of ht's people are usually sensitive about their hair.

If you can tell patient had HT, does that count as bad HT?

For example,Ive seen people who you can tell that had wotk done even though desity/yield looks ok..but there are color missmatch/texture/gray transition that looks off...

IMO truly state of the art ht should be undetectable and look completly natural

This depends on whether the guy looking has spent years researching on the forums and the internet or had a previous HT themselves imo, if the normal joe public can't tell then i believe the result is good. If it's someone who is researching HT'S then i think the tend to look at everyones head much more thoroughly...i know i do

I don ´t comment on results, not because i think they are bad or because i like them, just for the same reasons, who wants to hurt another person, we ´re all here together.

But its interesting, we dont want to hurt someones feelings but if its not good should they be told anyway, for their happiness.
