Seeking advice after 1st HT

Hi Everyone,

I am 31 years old, got my first and only HT when I was 27, approx +2k grafts taken, FUE method (my primary cause of baldness is heredity). I was before the HT and am still on meds (fin/min). I was extremely happy a year after the HT with what I think was an extraordinary change and a high density achieved.

But with the time (approx. 2.5/3 years after HT) I started to lose a lot of density. A 2nd HT would not be an issue as I have a very good donor area, more of an issue to me to go again through a 2nd HT as the post op is not pleasant at all. Also a bit reluctunant now of the HT as if I do it now who tells me that in 3 or 4 years I won't end up where I am now.

So I come here to seek advice on whether a 2nd HT is unavoidable to me or vitamins/supplements/PRP would help to regain the density that I lost with the time. Please full honesty here. For any doctor in the room I attach a recent assessment I got with the number of hair per cm2 in the affected areas plus crown. Definitely something went wrong with the HT as some of the transplanted (and native) hairs seem with almost no life.

Your case seems quite familiar to mine although I went through 2 HT and seems to have lost the majority of it .I have a third HT in which did not touch the front part of my hair, but mainly addressed my mid section and crown not previously transplanted. Upon starting oral minoxidil it appears alot of my previously thinning/ lost hair magically came to life.

The change over the years for me was alarming considering how much hair I had lost, this only became apparent when I saw Dr Farjo in July 21. I have also added topical dutasteride to the mix and I would say I have reversed about 80% of it.

Thanks, so oral minoxidil was key for you to regain that hair? In how much time would you say the regrowth happened? Maybe a 2nd HT wouldn't be of help for me given your case?

Which oral minoxidil brand do you use and how old are you?

Loniten is the usual one but I take the prescription to the pharmacy so know it's legit. I am 36.

Yes it was, regrowth rapidly, within a couple of months. I would suggest giving oral a go for a year. Started at 1.25 mg, then 2.5mg and upped to 5mg which is what I am on now. Thanks a lot - I'm currently taking fin but perhaps should change to dut to see stronger effects although my case is that transplanted and native follicles have kind of died with the time.

Always a chance, considering I was 9 years and 11 years post op from the first two always a chance. I think minox will do you alot of good.

And have you seen a difference between fin and dut? Always been on fin and never tried dut.

I think it makes a difference, I have used it orally before but did not take pics and my hair went down hill, was it due to going off Dut, possibly but with no documented pictures hard to access. I have opted for topical but with oral finasteride as topical due inhibits more DHT (possibly up to 90% scalp DHT) compared to orally DUT up to51% so time will tell.

You may need to switch meds to regain any miniaturised hairs and get your density back. Have you spoked with the clinic that did your HT?

I started to use oral min for 6 weeks now (1.25mg). Now I'm on 3x fin, oral min daily. Do you suggest to add dutasteride?

I understand that you're dealing with hair loss and are considering different options to regain the density you lost after your hair transplant. I can relate to your concerns as I have also experienced hair loss and have sought treatment to address it.

In your case, it seems like oral minoxidil has been effective in regaining some of the hair you lost.

Not bad result but u not happy so its bad result for u
I sorry to say but I think u are going down that rabbit hole and now gonna be chasing for a better outcome,I've seen it so many times
Try and live with it maybe use fibres
