Shedding or hairloss

Hello all, thanks for a great information resourse, I hope some of you can help me out.

How can I tell if my hair is going through a shedding cycle or falling out permantly? I`ve been using Rogaine Foam on my hairline for six months but my hairline seems to be creeping further back. Every morning there seems to be more and more hair on my pillow, can I check these to see if they are healthy or dead?

Could stress play a part as I may be made redundant in the near future, this troubles me no end.

Thanks jj.

Have you any pictures to post of your hairline, then we can see exactly whats troubling you, also like mdcfc says i would give Propecia/Proscar a try if you are losing hair.

As for telling if hairs are dead or not, not sure really but would hazzard a guess and say maybe they are real fine like miniturized hairs.

Hope that helps.

Hi there,

I used Rogaine and Propecia for a long while. I became dependent on the drugs until I realised that in reality they were causing me further hair loss.

I have since then found the perfect non surgical solution for me and couldnt be happier. I would be happy to discuss.

Well there have been improvements in hair surgery. There are so many new medicines and also a new stream of hair loss treatments available.
There are many factors such as age, hormones which affect the growth and pattern of your hair. It's always advised to look for best hair restoration process to deal with it.

It is better to seek hair loss treatment as compared to hair transplant surgical process.

If all else fails then consider surgery.

Well yeah I agree but there are many improvements in hair surgery too. But yeah always insist on a hair restoration process and if nothing works out, consult for surgery and investigate about it a lot before doing it though.

Hi

Been away for awhile but would like to add a bit here...

Shedding is quite a strange thing....sometimes I look in the mirror and think my hair has gone thinner than it was the previous week....then awhile later it seems to be back again...

I think there are several reasons for this...l if your hair is already thin then it does not take much loss to have a dramatic cosmetic effect....and visa versa...it does not take much regrowth to make it look better.

I think I go through a couple of shedding cycles a year....about now as I have noticed over the last week and then again at the beginning of the summer...sort of got used to it now...l

I would say that getting onto propecia is a good idea and also maybe Rogaine....

I ran out of Rogaine about 6 weeks ago and thought I would stop altogether.....could have been a mistake as my hair does seems thinner.....so just ordered some more.

I did the same thing around 18 months ago..hair went a bit thinner so I went back on it....problem is that I don't know if it's just part of the shedding cycle or the Rogaine does work well for me.....l

So, now thinking better safe than sorry..

If you can afford the meds I would recommend sticking with them....

Sorry, did not mean to go on and on,,,,once I start it hard to stop :)

Thanks JJ.

Hello all, sorry I've not been back to update. Here's my 6 month update 4 years later ;;DShortly after my last post I found new employment which has worked out great as I've been promoted to a managerial position and all my money worries have gone. I also added a low dose of Finasteride to my regime which has helped to maintain and grow new hair to the point where I'm comfortable with my hair and don't worry about it anymore.
Thanks to everyone who gave help and advice during the difficult period in my life.
I really appreciate it.
A note to other people suffering from hair loss related issues. Share your thoughts and questions with other like minded people as it really does help to talk about it.

Good to hear your happy with your current situation and it's good you feel like talking to others has benefited you, i couldn't agree more to be honest which is why i started to come on the forums....nothing better than talking to people who understand and actually know what your going through.

I notice you are on a low dose of fin now, did you suffer any sides effects either now or just initially?

Thanks for the update;)
