Good question, shock loss around the donor on fut is usually caused by tension in the donor closure or a difficult closure, It happens in about 10% of patients I see and on every time I have had it reported to me it has grown back including my own experience as I had a tight scalp.
Sure enough around 4-5 months it is back it is quite alarming at the time it happens.
As for shock loss of the recipient area again that down to trauma of the area how dense you pack those grafts, what size blade or needle you use. I see very little shock of the recipient area as we ask our patients to shave this area when making the incisions. There is a chance that if the hair is very weak and miniaturized it could be susceptible to permanent shock, these hairs are unlikely providing you with much of a cosmetic benefit though to begin with.
