The age old question from a balding newbie...best bang for your buck clinic?

Hello chaps..

I have reluctantly and belatedly come to the stark realisation that my hair is an absolute state and i need to get a transplant. Its been a painful reality check, but now its time!! I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times, so apologies for not navigating the minefield of threads and forums but i wanted to ask for myself and see what information i can gather.

I'm 37 been slowly losing the hair on the top of my head for the last 5-7 years and it appears lockdown has helped with the final few straws!

I'm not really in a position to spend "whatever it takes" at one of the top end celebrity clinics or the like, but also, i don't want to get the cheapest option if there's a risk of me ending up with a wonky birds nest on my bonnet!

I know there's always going to be a risk, that's the nature of surgery, but i'd like to give a fair days pay for a fair days work.

Has anyone got any advice, recommendation or pointers that could help me decipher the next best foot forward? Please let me know if there's any details or info i need to share.

Thanks in advance.

You could start with pictures to get opinions on the hairloss pattern and if you use finasteride or minoxidil

Preventative measures may be your best option right now before considering surgery. Pictures would help to establish what Norwood pattern you are.

I have never taken any finasterside or minoxidil. Side effects of Fin put me off especially.

I've currently sent out requests for quotes to Now Hair Time clinic (Ayhan Sezgin) and Bruno Ferreira. Basically because i don't know what I'm doing and wanted to start somewhere.

I took a quick look at Now Hair Time. One of the first things I read put me off them straight away. Because I know FUE leaves scars if I were researching I would cross them off my list. Their results may be good even though they make the statement below.

QUOTE.

"Many patients worry whether it will leave scars on the head after the hair transplant operation. Our specialist doctors provide the guarantee that there will be no scars on your heads".

Dr Bruno Ferreira does nice work. I`ve watched a live surgery by him at the World FUE Institute conference in Avignon France which I attended.

Let us know what they advise.

You have lost quite a bit of hair in the last 7 years which is bordering around a Norwood 5. Without any preventative measures in place, you could progress further. Your donor area looks strong so I think you`d be able to get a good result but could be at risk of future thinning.
Hair loss can be difficult to predict, you may stay as you are which would be great but you never know.

The video on this link is worth watching on other treatment options. Hair loss treatments

This patient story shows how hair loss can progress after a hair transplant. Hair loss after hair transplant

This patient Tommy Two had hair loss similar to yours. He has had 2 transplants. It will give you an idea of what can be achieved. Tommy's Hair Transplant

Thanks for this Bigmac. I look forward to reading through those threads later when i get a chance!

I received a quote back from NOW HAIR TIME today. I hear what you say regarding their blurb, its defo early stages and i can't see myself going with them. although some of their testimonial photos look decent.

They said this (below in bold) and then sent a price list which i have attached.

I was hoping i could have one session.. i had seen some instances of Norwood 5 & 6 having 4-5000 grafts in one session and showing great results..again... minefield like i say

Two sessions
The hair transplant specialist has analyzed your hair and he says that you need two sessions. we harvest 4000-4500 grafts for your hair in one session. At least after 8 months, we transplant 2000-2500 grafts for your hair. Your hair becomes dense and it looks natural and beautiful. We will use sapphire FUE method in two sessions.

6-7000 grafts over 2 surgeries could use up all your available donor. The first surgery of 4-4500 may give you a result that you`re happy with.

What has Dr Ferreira quoted?
