We don't have much choice NN. He's the one buying the cameras and knows how to work them. Buys fancier and fancier cams all the time.

Cheers NN...

Strange feeling.... like suddenly waking up to the fact that "life must go on"...

Anyway.... just looking up other stuff on the internet now... fancy trying hang gliding, rally driving.. and another sport called "jelly wrestling", though I believe this one is more of a spectator sport :T:

Hey Tim,

honestly--it's really tough to tell if anythings going on based on the pics; FWIW your hair looks really good. Are you saying your noticing shedding *in* the TRANSPLANTED area? Over how long of a period have you noticed shedding now? Have you contacted Dr. Feller's office yet? I'm really curious as to what their take on it is; I would suspect just a normal shed that even non MPB guys go through; but you believe your hair actually looks thinner (?).

Hi N2..

Hope things are "growing" well with you....

As for my shedding issues... I have noticed it in my transplant area but think its also more wide spread... its so hard to tell.... I am 99% convinced that I am shedding... there are more hairs in the bath at the moment than there used to be.... and whereas a couple of months ago I found it hard to spot the old plugs I can "sort of" find them easier...

Rather than drive myself crazy looking in the mirror all the time I have decided to sit tight and see what happens...

I am still 100 times more confident and happier than I was a year ago....

I guess I am sort of tired of hair issues, hair has ruled my life for so long... and intensified over the past year with the HT and the post-op period.... that my mind set it sort of fixed on "life" rather than dealing with any hair issues...

I have not contacted Feller yet, I cannot see what he could really say about it... other than "wait and see"... which is advice I have had from several people...

So, wait and see, enjoy life, learn how not to drown underwater and become a full time member of the F.F.O.V.F.J.W.A.S.

(Female Federation of Very Fit Jelly Wrestlers Appreciation Society).

All the best mate

TimUK,

Shedding unfortunately is part and parcel of the "process". Seasonal shedding occurs to us all - i personally experienced one recently which left my hair looking very thin and even though i knew it was only a shed it still made me anxious and very self concious - it does every time ;ss;- but i know through experience it is because of the shedding process and that given time it will slowly but surely come back in. When it does just remember it for the next time.

HT hair is no where near as dense as a "normal" head of hair - therefore when you shed say 25% of it if not more in a cycle it makes the HT area appear thin in comparison to pre shed.

The advice given is very good - just ride it out and be patient (again) and it will all come back in. Maybe get on MSM if not already just to help things along but the best thing you can do it try forget about it as it will then come back in quicker rather than watching / waiting for it.

Congrats also on the transformation to date - hope you are happy with it as you appear to have really come a long way since your pre op situation.:)

Best Regards

Spex

So, this isn't unique to ht's, correct? Everyone goes through "seasonal shedding"? How long does it typically last? Is it truly "seasonal" (i.e. coincides w/seasons) that sounds crazy, but I ask because most people's hair grows faster in the summer?

Tim,

sounds like good news to me man! I'm sure it must suck experiencing this after you've been patient for 12+ months, but it's good to know it's normal and more important---temporary. Hang in there!

Spex,

cheers, and good to see you here..... to be honest that was what I was hoping for... and what you mention about HT's being less dense and therefore a "shed" being more noticeable makes sense, I had not thought about that before..

The strange thing is that I did seem to notice my hair looked thinner in the past as summer approached... I guess I noticed it more year after year...(by this I mean several years ago) this, I assume, is along the lines of what you mentioned... less dense hair equals more noticeable if/when a shed happens... so... all could be good...

Also, you must have read my mind... I was down to 1000mg of MSM and have been for the past 4 months (as my hair had grown I did not think I needed it) so was weening myself off it..... I had actually increased this to 3000 only last week....

To be honest I was happy until about 3/4 weeks ago until the shed started... I will not say that I am unhappy as my situation is still 100 times better than pre-op... I guess you could say I am "a bit pissed off"...like two steps forward and 1 step back... but I have decided to "go with the flow".. and see what happens..

Cheers for the good advice...

will keep you posted on what happens...

N2..

Yep, great news... I am happier now.... just saw your updates on your thread... looking great..

Cheers all

Tim

Hi Tim, Thanks - I hope you are well, long time no speak. Indeed HT 's when they shed do expose the fact that they perform the "art of illusion" and are not dense but with the skill and placement performed appropriately with direction and use of characteristic they can appear thicker than they actually are.   - Make sure when going to the barber they avoid "thinning "scissors .. ;)

I personally have even experienced back to back sheds - which is a real pain in the arse. I must say though that they less you think about it and knowing that what is occurring is only a shed that its never too long before things are back on track.

Also juice up on Omega 3 and a hair, vitamin form Holland and Barret for example - This will only help improve the overall health of hair .

You situ appears to be night and day to your pre op so i am very happy for you as i know when we met all those months ago what a big step this was again for you and i am glad that the result has made you feel better - Once the shed is over (which will happen)  and the maturing of the HT has developed i am sure you will be much happier and you will then also know for next time when this occurs (which it will)  that its just part of the process and it will not get you down as much.

All the very best with it and just continue to "ride it out" -  with your permission i  would love to put some comparisons together especially after you have documented your repair so well and honestly it would be great for other repair guys to see your transformation. It really is a remarkable change from where you were - I hope this is possible.

Grow well and don't worry - this shedding is very normal and it will pass soon. No one said life was easy...*nl
