Topical Finasteride for HT?

Hi all,

58 yr old male considering HT.

I've been told by rough intial estimate from hair Dr that I will need about 2000 grafts for my hairline.

I am in the process of arranging a consulation but I wondered what the general view is on using topical finasteride instead of oral.

At my age I can't face the prospect of any risk of reduced libido or ED so would only consider topical.

Would this be a limiting factor in any HT. For what its worth my hair loss stablised about 10 years ago.

Topical has side effects but the risk is less than taking it in pill form. Why do you need to take it if your hair has stabilised?

Hi Tony.
If your hair loss has stabilised you probably won’t need it or you could start on a low dosage of 0.5 mg every other day.
