Slits are made for the grafts to be inserted in. Sometimes the slits can be hard to see by the professionals that are inserting the grafts. A "trick of the trade" is to dye the slits with a dye that would not harm the grafts such as methylene blue. Methylene blue is taken up by the skin(epithelium) where an injury occurs... in this case a slit.
