There's an episode of Family Guy (The Old Man and the Big 'C') where it is revealed that Quagmire actually wears a wig. After his secret is out, his friends try to console him, and the following exchange takes place:

PETER: You could get a hair transplant.
JOE: Oh, yeah. Like one of those guys pretending to get out of the pool.

Is this true, refer only to FUT, or simply a joke? Does wet hair give the game away?

I guess the relation to hair transplantation is that less than native density is used to give the illusion of a full head of hair.

As Louis said, when it’s wet more density is required to cover the scalp so that illusion can be shattered.
