What reasons did people use to explain their new growth.

Would love to know peoples explainations for their new growth after having a HT. I was ok because i went from wearing a hat to having hair....but what do people who have gone from being really bald to having hair actually tell people.

I would like to guess that theres actually some funny ones out there. Any examples guys?

Maybe theres some good ones new patients could use.

Although i have yet to undergo a HT,i got amazing results from Finasteride when i started using the drug approx 12yrs ago. My hair was between a NW3.5-4 then and very minitaurised, within 9months my minitaurised hair, thickened beyond belief and with a little bit of concealor i was a solid NW2. (i have always maintained the front forelock of my hair).
Peopole whom i had'nt seen for months were amazed at my transformation and were convinced i was wearing a wig or had undergone a HT. Suddenly i had a whole host of girls take notice of me whom had previously taken very little interest. The annoying thing was everyone wanted to mess my hair up to check if it was real and when you have a little concealor up there you obviously have to be on guard. The other big difference was that my hair was always light brown and when i started getting results from FIN, i have always dyed it black. Hair dye transforms colourless hair in a big positive way.

Good topic.

I have been asked a couple of times, but I have not been asked about the hair directly. Instead, I got

'You look different'

To which I replied

'Yeah I've put on half a stone' (which was true).

Killed the conversation stone dead :::C

Thats great dude. I think its weird how little notice people actually take of your appearance when you have hair, but when people are bald or balding they become noticed a lot more as the brunt of everyones jokes. Society today sucks::;mb

My experience was also "you look different", or similar.

A lot of patients are asked what's different and actually having more hair also has a ripple effect in that they they join a gym or change diet or do other positive things and so they do look different aside from the hair itself.

Most are not asked anything and even in some astonishing cases of restoration nothing is asked and I can think of some whereby there has been a massive difference.

We did however do one case on a NW6, and so far he has had Strip and FUE in combination twice and also some beard and we've got to 9500 grafts so far. He looks amazingly different and has thick coarse hair and he grew it out and happened to go to a fancy dress party and was asked by someome who hadn't seen him in years if he was wearing a wig! He put the growth down to medication also but the difference is really huge but took years to get there so helped also.

A transplant comes in gradually for most and you would honestly be amazed how little people notice on the whole.

I would love someone to ask me what €™s up with the wig on my head €¦ €¦ €¦lol €¦ €¦ €¦.

I agree when done slowly it becomes very hard for most to figure out.

I also agree with the gym/diet comment. Personally I have always been aware of the foods I €™m eating along with training having become a habit over the years. But as my hair has become easier and easier to deal with it really has given me the spark to take it to the next level. Just over the last year I have lost close to 30 pounds with another 10-15 more to come.

In the past I would sometimes have to push myself to get out there and do more things. I would have to admit I did have days in the past here and there where the hair looked so bad that it was easier to just not go and stay home that day I €™m sure many can relate. I don €™t have those days any more, none, nada, zero.

The only person that has really noticed my own growth is my wife and sometimes she will just stare and even knowing she is still amazed. But most of all she is happy for me as it €™s hard not to notice how much more comfortable I am in my own skin, or should I say with my own hair.

No one has actually asked myself, my sons uncle asked him once how come my crown is not bald anymore, my son just shrugged his shoulders.

So I have not had to answer this.

Was never an issue as I didn't have noticeable hair loss when I had my first HT.

My experiences echo many that have already posted. You look different or younger, have you lost weight (i had) and as Topcat says once you have he hair back you don't have a reason to hide away and getting down the gym and improving the rest of you becomes more of a focus rather than constantly being anxious about the hair.

A couple of people have said that I have more hair and I put that down to the propecia. It is such a gradual process that most people just forget what you used to look like in general. I guess in my case some people would have noticed my pluggy hairline and know that I had something done but not once did anyone outright ask me.
