When To Have A Hair Transplant

There's no real way of knowing how you'll end up in 10 or 20 years time is there?
I'm 30 and need my frontal third and maybe mid section.
No clinic has told me I shouldn't have anything done although they've all been just going by pictures i sent them.

But apparently if everyone in your family is NW5, you can still end up NW7.

When patients go to a consultation i wonder how many are 100% truthful regarding their family's hairloss patterns.

What i mean by this is, if for instance every male in a guys family are a norwood 7 and this guy is desperate for a HT will he be totally honest when a physician asks about his familys hairloss pattern? or will he exagerate out of desperation so a procedure can be done?

Honesty is crucial from both a good clinic and a potential patient so proper planning can be done for the future

Very true and a very good point. Open communication is vital for everyone involved. Obviously there is a pressure to maybe not be totally open if someone is desperate to have a hair transplant, and that can cloud the judgment. But that is likely to only give short term happiness, and there must be a responsibility to yourself.

Hi Jessop,

I think the honest answer, which may not help too much, is it is impossible to say, but if you start meds, use them properly and give it time, ideally around one year to assess the benefit they give.

Some people it seems meds can continue to benefit for many years, others it appears they have a shelf life and the benefits start to wane after a few years. Obviously if the meds are working keep using them for as long as possible to sustain the growth of your native hair; the more hair you can keep the better for you.
