Why Robotic FUE is bad for the HT industry.

I'd hate to be off topic yet again, but I think a potential red flag for a doctor you should stay away from is if said doctor is on youtube and disables ratings and comments. Just something to think about maybe.

What many fail to realize or simply dismiss is that it is very well known within the hair transplant industry there are a select group of doctors who have performed the years of work day in and day to perform fue with small hand punches. They in fact did not take the easy road of simply dismissing it and switching a patient over to something else. Over time many of those researching became more aware and as that awareness grew more of those considering a procedure moved in the direction of that awareness and that seems to be where we are today.

The real point to consider is that although robotics might be somewhat acceptable it has not surpassed the skills of these doctors. In order for someone to sell the procedure they must remain silent in regards to this select group of doctors or dismiss it if it is mentioned. This is being dishonest and why in the world would someone do business with someone who is dishonest. Same goes for those promoting €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.there has to be some dishonesty in order to make it sound appealing. These all become clues for those researching when you are looking for truth and honesty €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.they expose their cards €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦they are dishonest and that is a red flag.

I originally missed that donor area photo of a patient whom has had a FUE procedure with the Artas Robot.

Those extractions look in excess of 1.0mm punch diameter? Is that your opinion also?

Forgetting the fact that the operator of the Artas has extracted grafts too high. Maybe the Operator has never done manual FUE before?

But we know the transection rate with a robot is inferior to the manual method. Are some Clinics using larger Punch sizes to decrease the number of transected grafts?

There is a very interesting sentence/paragraph on the website of HDC Clinic (Cyprus) in respect to graft transection rates with the Artas Robot.

I have seen many great results over the years from this Clinic and they clearly demonstrate why manual FUE procedures are superior to Robotic.

What they have stated is exactly what my research of the Artas has concluded to.

If you want to undergo a FUE procedure with a robot. If you lose 25% of your grafts because they have been transected, do the maths its bye bye donor for you!

But hey because the Artas can extract quicker than the manual, we can reduce the 25% transection rate for the donor (i think this is a generous estimate) and instead we can increase the punch size to reduce the number of transected grafts.

How is that in the patients interest? The only benefit to the Artas is for the manufacturer and Clinics who do not excel in the skill of manual extraction.

Coopman it €™s probably 1.0 but I €™m only guessing from what I have seen in the past. The problem is most don €™t understand the area of a circle, some clinics will explain when planting into a crown as it is one of the biggest drawbacks when done too early. The expansion of that circle in sq cm of area is huge. The square area of that 1.0 punch is almost double that of a .75 but many are confused when looking at only the size of the punch. If I were to tell you I €™m going to use this 1.0 punch on your head and the wound size will be 100% larger but don €™t worry about it because it doesn €™t matter, anyone who can think logically would say no thanks.

The scary part about all this is young guys don €™t know and these clinics that have this contraption are not going to listen to that voice of a young guy that is not ready for a hair transplant. I can hear that voice very easily so others who have been in this business for years can hear it too €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.but they just don €™t care. They will leave a wake of devastation and be long gone once they money has been made.

I don €™t care if it €™s hair plucking with Acell, tattooing the head, or this device €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.most of these guys promoting only seem to pretend to care and if guys find out too late there is not much they can do about it. My advice for some patients is to put any shame they feel to side and help the next guy. It €™s good karma and maybe if you start helping others you will be surrounded by others that will help you €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦that €™s the way it works in my book €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.and the same can be said about the liars and the cheats €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦they are usually surrounded by the same and the often get back what they give out in time..............it all takes time.

I have been seeing more patients coming online not quite happy with their robotic procedure and that was the point of this thread, to help them understand there is something better. No one deserves to have a second rate medical procedure performed on them even if it is some young desperate guy and it €™s not a life or death situation.

If you are contemplating a ht procedure make sure you understand the procedure inside and out otherwise you will have to accept some of the blame as the information is out there. Yes very difficult to find but it €™s there.

Just wanna add that I noticed that the robot punch went down to 0.8mm but that probably doesn't matter since the robot probably wont have great graft survival anyway... I only trust a human hand from now on

I've seen some good results from the Artas but also not so good but this is the same for all types of procedures.
