zion, I hope you are doing well. It's been four years now since you had your first real taste of repair, and while you seem to have put the whole issue behind you, I hope you don't abandon the idea of repair entirely.
I think the approach taken by BHR was excellent from the onset. Initially I was thinking of building the hairline up, but now think the removal of the hairline your best option. That's why thinning it out was a great idea.
I would remove the entire hairline and place all the grafts in your scarring. Fill in the scars entirely in the back, then you can work on scar repair in the front using laser, dermabrasion, or any other new technological advance that comes along.
Dr. Bisanga showed great foresight in his approach.
