I just had a hair transplant done. I seen others with growth at 8 weeks. I'm exactly 8 weeks today and have not seen any growth. I'm worried. The clinic told me everybody is different and to give it three months. I need some advice

Some people do not see growth until 3 months plus. The clinic are correct in what they are saying.
How many grafts did you have?

Hello @thickhair, the norm is around one month, four weeks, the transplanted hair may shed, you may keep the hair, but either way at this stage it has no impact on the result if it sheds or stays. The transplanted hair then enters a dormant stage that normally lasts another two months (3 months from transplant). Around three months the transplanted hair starts to grow, the growth at this stage is minimal and often finer than the quality of your native hair until it matures. At eight weeks, do not worry, but you could post pictures if unsure. Good growth!

If you have traction alopecia what have been the consequences so far? Did you have a hair transplant because you lost hair due to the traction alopecia, to replace lost hair?

That's why I got the hair transplant. The consequences were I lost my hair but it wasn't in a large area

Traction alopecia can cause scarring, as it can cause permanent damage to the hair follicles, leading to miniaturisation and fibrosis. The follicles are replaced by scar tissue resulting in a permanent hair loss. However, if it is relatively minimal it is unlikely to affect the transplanted hair growth. But at eight weeks it is way too early to be concerned. You can post pictures if you wish as it maybe possible to give a specific comment rather than a general help. Hope you have good growth.

Here is the area where the transplant took place. Does this look like scar tissue and do you think I should have any growth?

There´s mothing obvious from the your image, try to just allow the transplanted hair to mature over the coming months an then judge. Of course, it needs to be said, don´t cause traction to any hair, as that certainly will not help.

There appears to be an area of slight complexion change, but it´s not possible to say more from the picture and we don´t want to "guess". I assume you discussed this with the doctor at your consultation, did they give any indication as to growth issues. Regardless, 8 weeks it will be impossible to give you an answer, around 13 weeks is often when the growth starts, maybe 4 months if there is scar tissue, Try to be patient in the meantime. If concerned visit your doctor for a check.

I'm 11 weeks now and still no growth. The clinic told me wait 6 months and see. I'm worried because when I Google it says hair should start sprouting by now but barely visible. I have zero growth. If I overthinking this or is this a fail? I saw lots of people with growth by now

Hello @thickhair , you are correct, around now (commonly 3 months or 13 weeks) it is common to see the first signs of hair growth, that is working on the assumption the skin is not impaired. However, placing hair into scar tissue the yield and growth rates are almost always lower and slower. Was this discussed with your doctor prior to surgery? is that why they said wait until six months.

I have traction alopecia. I seen other people with this issue get a transplant and they have growth. Good growth. Do you think this is a fail? The clinic told me they tell everyone to wait 6 months

Hello @thickhair , yes, you mentioned previously the traction alopecia. It is way too early to consider a fail. Under "normal" circumstances the healing and growth periods are measured like this -

Two weeks - superficial healing of the scalp, although there is likely some redness to the skin and possibly some transplanted hair sheds.

One month - often the transplanted hair sheds, although some keep the hair, either way, it has no bearing on the final result. The hair follicles enter a dormant stage.

Three months - the transplanted hair starts to come out of the dormant stage, growth is a minimal percentage, maybe around 10%, and continues to regrow over the coming months. The hair calibre and quality is often finer than your native hair and this also matures over the months.

Six months plus - more hair is now growing and it´s likely to see the general area treated although the hair density needs to improve, which continues to around 10-12 months. Even then it is common for the hair quality to continue to improve.

Placing into impaired skin has complications, inflammation, scarring, possible poor circulation. This can only be measured on a case by case basis, and should be discussed prior to surgery so you understand the risks. It is very possibly the growth can take longer to show, and the above time frame does not apply to you, you cannot say your hair transplant is a failure at this stage. Even on a virgin scalp different areas the hair takes longer to grow. While understandably hard to do, you need to try and be patient, it is way too early to be despondent.

They quoted by hairs about 9 thousand hairs
Hi @thickhair , I missed this post. 9000 hairs is a lot of hair, are you sure this number is correct? Hairs grow in natural bunches called follicular units, and each "bunch" can have between one to four hairs, so the average number of hairs per follicular unit is around 2 to 2.5 hairs per natural group. This means you would have had around 4000 grafts, that is enough to treat an advanced pattern of hair loss, not a relatively small area around your hairline. Could it be 900, that would be around 350 grafts.

Hi sorry to bother you again. It's been three and half months and I still don't see any growth. They are telling me at the clinic when they check it with a hair magnifier that they see growth. I don't see any in the front of my scalp, and I believe they are not telling the truth. Is this normal to not see growth at this time?

Hey it's been 16 Weeks and I still don't have growth am I worrying for nothing?
I believe the clinic is lying to me when they check because the front of my scalp is the same as day 1. I don't know what to do. They told me they see growth, but I don't. I had a friend check and my friend told me they don't see any growth. Am I worrying for nothing? Not even baby hairs I see sprouting.

Could you post a pre-op picture So we can compare?
Do you have any pictures from thr surgery? 4 months could potentially still be little to sign of growth.
