WEEK 8 (2 MONTH) UPDATE

Hi everyone. Just updating my progress.

Everything has been smooth sailing so far. No issues to report.

Donor area feels fine to touch. Perhaps a little shock loss as looks a bit patchy still but could also be an uneven hair cut. I trimmed the back and sides grade 1 a few weeks ago. Mussafer Dr Demirsoys assistant said to try monoxide on the donor area. He also seemed to suggest I may have had patchiness before my transplant. This was based on a pre surgery photo I sent before. Only time will tell.

Recipient area has shed a lot and I think there may have been some shock loss to some of the native hairs as well. All to be expected I guess. Numbness in the recipient area is getting better by the week. There seems to be a lot of fine hairs starting to appear in the temples but not sure if they are native or not.

I am now on Finasteride 1mg 3 times a week and Monoxidil 5% twice a day. No sides so far. Multivitamins, Biotin, MSM, Cod liver oil, VitaminC taken daily.

Running 3 times a week 7 to 10 miles and weights resistance training 3 times a week. Hoping the exercise promotes blood to the recipient area.

Cant wait for the day when the transplanted hair starts to grow. Hopefully the start of month 3

FINGERS CROSSED lol

Thanks and all the best.

3.5 MONTH (14 week) UPDATE

Hi everyone, So here is my 3.5 month update.

I have been feeling a bit down coming up to the 3 month mark as I don't seem to have had much growth. I know its still early but I keep seeing other peoples 3 month updates and there seems to be loads of noticeable growth. I reached out to Mussafer Dr Demirsoys assistant and he reassured me things are on track.

I think I was worried as I could see lots of thin whispy hairs and thought that they were just my old miniaturised hairs growing as a result of me taking Finasteride. I thought the new hairs would come through thicker like stubble. I also have not had any pimples or spots and no itching which is a sign of growth. I had a few spots in the donor area for some reason at around 8 weeks but they have seemed to have gone.

There are quite a few small stubble hairs that didn't shed from surgery. They also haven't grown either. Are these considered dead or could they still grow? Once again from what I've seen most non shedded hair continues to grow.

The hairline looks just as it did pre surgery now so lets hope there is more growth moving forward.

I'm still taking Finasteride and Minoxidil, Biotin and vitamins.

Running and resistance training 6 days a week.

I think I must be a slow grower. Excuse the bad Haircut. I have been shaving the donor area my self as we are in lockdown.

Let me know what you think.

All the best.

Hi mate, thanks for sharing your 3.5 month update. I have watched countless videos on Youtube and most guys notice the growth starting to accelerate between 4-5 months and so you have still a wee bit to go. I know it's easy to be despondent when you see other guys progressing faster but just keep telling yourself that it's still relatively early days. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason behind who are the early and late bloomers - I would guess it is simply down to genetics.

Also, Minoxidil can cause initial shedding before the hairs start to regrow stronger and so you may be experiencing this. I would doubt that the small stubble hairs are 'dead' as such as they would most likely fall out. You might find that the grafts are still settling in their new home and have not sprung into action yet.

Onwards and upwards from here I reckon!

Hey thanks for your feedback. Its reassuring to know.

I was on Monoxidil for about 1 year before the procedure. I was asked to stop it 2 weeks before surgery and not start again till 2 weeks after so 4 weeks of not taking minoxidil around the surgery date. could I have gone through the Monoxidil shedding phase again? Not that it matters anymore but more curious.

Thanks

Hey hoohhair

I’m 7 days out from visiting Dr Demirsoy myself . You look right on track , in the next 4-6 weeks I expect you will see big things start to happen. The shape of the new hairline is there , it don’t be long before some growth starts and you will feel a lot better

Hey thanks for your remarks. Hoping the next few weeks are eventful growth wise. Have you documented your journey with Dr Demirsoy?

Hi Hoohair, I haven't used Minoxidil myself and so am not qualified to comment but I'm sure Dr Demirsoy's clinic would be able to advise you on what to expect shedding wise post surgery. I am sure they would not have recommended it if it wasn't going to optimise your final result. Keep us posted on your progress and fingers crossed for some incoming growth!

Try not to worry regarding not much growth so far. Every patient is different, some don’t see growth until 6 months.
It is hard when you see the lucky ones who have a lot of early growth but what’s important is the end result. Done may just reach the finishing post before you.
The stubbles that have not grown are most likely stalled hairs. This means the bulb is safely planted, the hair shaft has detached from the bulb and is just sitting in the hole. You can pull them with some tweezers, they should slide out easily.
I had them on one of my surgery’s. They are nothing to worry about.

8 MONTHS 3 week UPDATE

Guys apologies for the delay. Life has been crazy especially with what's going on in the world.

So here we are 8 months and 3 weeks in. Its been a roller coaster. Sometimes Im happy with the progress then sometimes not. In some lights it looks great and in some lighting it looks terrible.

If this was the final result I would have to say I would be slightly disappointed when compared to the results from other cheaper clinics, that being said they can also produce some inconsistent and bad results too.

Maybe my expectations are too high but when you see some great density and results from other clinics including Dr Demirsoys that's what you expect.

It is obviously better than where I started and I am more confident now. I hardly where a cap. I wish it was more dense though. I still have a few more months to go but honestly don't see how things can improve. Lets keep fingers crossed it does get better.

Let me know what you guys think.

The first 4 photos are with out any gel. the rest are with gel and how I style it for nice occasions.

Any questions let me know.

apologies once again for the slow update.

I think the growth looks good. Styling your hair backwards really helps too. The forward comb caeser look isn’t the best.
you still have another 4 months to go to reach 12 months and then it can still mature after that.
Try not to worry about it.

Thanks for your feed back. Trust me I would never have my hair down like that, it was just for illustration purposes lol. fingers crossed for the next few months.

Hi everyone. First of all I would like to apologise for the lack of updates. Life is has been hectic and my hair not as much as an issue in my life as it used to be.

I am now 16 months after my procedure. I can't really see any difference from month 8. Generally I am happy with the result though. As a whole I am happy I went through with the procedure. I am more confident going out with out a hat. Nobody has noticed that I have had a hair transplant and when I look back at old photos before the procedure there is definitely a huge difference.

In certain lights I feel its still looks thin and in other lighting looks great. I wish it was more dense but maybe my expectations were too high. I can't expect my hair to be as dense as when I was 18 years old.

Last 2 pictures with fringe down are from a recent hair cut and looks better density wise but the lighting is also favourable. With hair brushed up it can look thin especially out side.

What do you guys think?

Take care

I think your hair has improved since the 8 month update. It looks to have filled in more and matured. When you had your hair combed forward at 8 months it was wiry with some thinner parts but now it looks good.
It’s good to hear you’re generally happy with the result and have gained in confidence.
Different lighting conditions can make our hair look different but most people won’t be taking much notice. We can be our own worst critiques.
Overall, from where you were to what’s been achieved, the transplant has been a success. No more balding look and you have plenty of styling options now.
Thanks for popping back with the update.
