2000 grafts. Hair Dr Dr Ashad 12 month

Did you take finance over 12 months? It's really clear on their website that it's interest free for 12 months, but interest is charged on longer loans. If it was 12 months, you shouldn't have been charged.

In terms of overall cost, I was given 3 options/graft counts based on the vagaries of internet consults.

I would hope you discussed the grafts needed and given an option to increase (but it should have been your final decision).

Similarly, you should have discussed and agreed to the surgical plan, including not treating the crown?

Absolutely no idea. But the whole this from start to finish has been a disaster.
Also when I paid my £1000 deposit to book the surgery they made me pay another £1000 on the day.
Wanted my crown doing which they totally ignored and only done my corners and front.
Told me it was 0% apr, but I’m not paying almost 800 more than I should have.
People need to stay away from the place
I do feel for you bud. It sounds like your frustrations go beyond the result itself to other factors within your whole experience. I can understand and can relate to how this makes it much more difficult to deal with and accept. The best advice I can give is just trying to emotionally detach yourself from it, (I know this is easier said than done), but it will just consume you and that can become extremely exhausting. Thankfully, you’ve been able to get a 2nd surgery and repair elsewhere, and we all hope you get the outcome you want.

I haven't seen many/any clinics where results were guaranteed (or you were refunded).

Usually you pay for the procedure, not the results.

That said, when I saw your results, I thought they looked good.

It's interesting what the nurse said. Did she mention what a 'split graft' looked like, or what it was? I've never heard the term previously, except where multiple hair follicles were intentionally split to give a more natural result.

Maybe more experienced people on here than me can comment on the second clinics assessment that far fewer than 2000 grafts were transplanted from the post surgery picture to give you peace of mind?

Do you have any pictures following your latest surgery? Perhaps you could post your journey on here?
Hi @Bobbins. Just on your point about patients paying for the procedure and not the results. The results are what are sold by clinics, all clinics, in their advertisements, websites, social media platforms etc. Results are what leads to custom. I’m sure there aren’t any patients who want to pay £7000 for a HT experience day. I’m sure most of us are confident we won’t fall into the 2% margin of failed/poor results. I personally think it’s diluting the problem and @D18 feelings to suggest otherwise.

Completely agree @Kelvino1987 - I personally picked the surgeons in previous operations based on the results they achieved, with the hope I would get good results.

I can think of much better ways to spend thousands on an experience day.

I guess we all know there are chances that surgeries may fail, but we minimise that risk through the doctor we select.

I also think it’s important to manage our expectations too. I would love a full head of hair, but that’s impossible due to the number of grafts that can be transplanted from the donor.

That wasn't my intention. What I didn't want to do was set unrealistic expectations.

What's most likely is that reputable clinics will offer the opportunity for a free second procedure to correct the first.

I've not seen clinics refund money to patients because they don't get the results they hoped for.

In this specific case, the patient posted they they were happy with the results. Having read other posts about the clinic they changed their mind and posted they were dissatisfied.

I'm sure the clinic would have offered a second procedure to correct any perceived issues. However, it seems the patient has instead had a 2nd procedure performed elsewhere and is now seeking a partial refund.

I doubt the patient will answer any of the questions I've asked about finance or clarify the process of agreeing to change graft counts. I've given up asking about their recent procedure.

However, if you feel there's a good chance of getting a refund from this (or any other) clinic in these circumstances, then I'd suggest you give those assurances to support him.

I never said or suggested to him about getting a refund. In relation to his hopes of a refund, if I’m reading it correctly, it seems more so as a result of his overall experience, not just his dissatisfaction with growth. If a patient has had a really poor experience, I would hope any reputable clinic would come to some form of an agreement.

I find it interesting you keep referring to @D18 as “the patient”, and from what I’m observing, scrutinising his position of his result and experience. Just doesn’t seem to be objective. Interesting….

And there we go. If you struggle to argue the point, attempt to attack the poster.

There's nothing more neutral than 'the clinic' and 'the patient'. The complaint has developed from the result / growth (read this and earlier threads) to issues with feedback after 6 months to finance to surgical plan.

Why would I lack objectivity? What is it you think is making that so (other than language used)?

I’m totally cool bobbins. Not sure why you’re becoming defensive?

There’s a passive aggressiveness to your tone, I also find this interesting. Take care.

@Bobbins - have you considered that @D18 might not feel comfortable answering you questions. I agree with @Kelvino1987, your tone is somewhat negative. For example, you seemed quite critical in some the questions and comments you raised =

"Similarly, YOU SHOULD have discussed and agreed to the surgical plan, including not treating the crown?" and "I've given up asking about their recent procedure" - these questions to me show a lack of empathy. If you have not empathy for the patient, I would question why you are posting on here.

In hindsight, I am sure D18 knows this, but having surgery for the first time can be very daunting, so we sometimes forget to ask some of the questions might have wanted to ask or might be intimidated to ask.

I think the purpose of this forum is to support others, especially those who are struggling with poor surgical outcomes, regardless of whoever the surgeon is. Whenever I post on here, I am always concerned about the well-being of the person and if people have bad results it can have a massive impact on how they are feeling, so it's imperative we don't make things worse with antagonistic questionning.

The first point you made was just poor English on my part. What I meant was that an elective surgery should be about what the patient wanted so he should have been asked, and confirmed, the plan before proceeding (including cost, number of grafts, where they're placed etc).

I'll bow out of this thread, I don't want to make him feel worse, and a one way dialogue about his feelings about a clinic are best dealt with my more empathetic people such as you both.

@Bobbins - I am severely dyslexic, so thank you for criticising my English, something I have struggled with my whole life. I really appreciate it. Are we on this website to appraise the grammar of others?

You misunderstood. I was criticizing my English - I said 'bad English on my part'.

So that’s my break down which should work out over 4000 hairs. It’s absolutely embarrassing when you look at the work that’s been done

So this is what 2000 grafts apparently looks like 2 years after. As you know I had to shave my head again but surely should look better than this after a months growth!
Keep in mind I already I had in the middle which they went over for whatever reason
Absolutely appalling work by the HAIR DR!

uploaded a few photos of the horrendous job they have done.

So apparently this is good density and a good job. £6000 for 200 0 grafts.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE GUYS.
My hairline is literally non existent!

@D18 I have merged your update/2nd surgery thread to this original thread so all the details are in one thread.

I will copy paste some of the comments from the 6 month update thread that you and the clinic posted on.

I have locked the 6 month update thread. Any further replies need to be made on this thread.

6 month update thread for reference

On the 28th March 2023 D18 said the following.

Awful results after 2 year.
Clinic basicalllu have took no responsibility at all.
So I had a hair transplant at the hair Dr by arshad and his team. Staff were very polite however the results were appalling. Paid £6000 for 2000 grafts and you be luck to count 500. During my 6 and 12 month reviews they told me it was looking good and even asked me to leave good reviews as they knew I wasn’t happy with the progress.
The hair I already had was covering up the awful work they had done.
I have complained and raised concerns through email and WhatsApp to just be pretty much ignored.
If you would like to see my awful results. There’s a hair loss forum called ‘hair loss experience’ my name on there will be D18.
Not only do they mess around with peoples money but it’s messing with peoples mental health.
You don’t just pay for surgery you pay for results which I haven’t got. Don’t been fooled by there photos. If you ready the forum a lot of people have had a second transplant as his work was terrible.
I went to see another hair specialist who told my that the hairs they took from my donor area had been split and there was no way I received 2000 grafts. Which you will be able to see from my awful photo.
I also paid £1000 deposit and was then made to pay another 1000 on the day of the surgery, this should have been a huge red flag. But I was blinded by the photos they but on there website.
Avoid this place at all costs. Some of my mates have been to turkey and revived great results.
Also for £3 a graft at the hair Dr you would expect better results.

I finally received and email back, only because I said i was going to cancel the direct debit. They pretty much told me that as I left a good review ‘which the doctor asked me to do’ as he already knew that I had complained. Absolutely horrendous company. Robbed me from start to finish!!

On the 28th March Bobbins asked.

Looking at your picture, there still appears to be redness in the recipient area on the left hand side (as you look at it). Has that lasted since the original procedure 2 years ago?

On the 29th March the clinic replied.

Hi @D18

Its Adam from the clinic. A patient of ours has brought the threads you have created on this website to my attention. He sent me the link to this thread and several others you have created.

I am really sorry to see that you are upset by this situation and that you have resorted to trolling us online. I know you wrote to the clinic and Sommiya responded to you. What has really bemused us is that at 12 months you told us that you are very happy with the result and that apart from a small patch on the right side (which you felt that needed around 30 grafts) that you were "over the moon". You even wrote that on this forum in another thread (see below). At 12 months you mentioned you were keeping your hair "really short" and was still happy with the result.

I am really struggling to understand what has happened here. In some cases overtime the hair loss situation can evolve but we can not comment on that as we have not seen you back in the clinic recently to assess your scalp. In terms of your further surgery we wish you all the best, the comment you wrote about not receiving the 2000 grafts is false, you can see the grafts placed in the immediate post operative pictures. Whenever the hair is buzz cut the same density and coverage is not seen as compared to when the hair is longer. Hair transplant does not replace every single hair follicle that has ben lost, that is not possible.

Whilst I do not want to get into an online debate with you, it is unfair for you to troll the clinic. We have made our position clear to you in that we do not provide refunds for surgery, there is no guarantee of a particular outcome. In some select cases we do offer patients further surgery to add more grafts but this is considered on an individual case by case basis and we reserve the right to withhold elective treatment. I have attached some pictures below showing your progress. Even at this stage if you wanted to come and see us at the clinic or speak to us over the phone we would be happy to do so.

Regards
Adam

On the 29th March D18 replied.

Hi, If you read my last comment you will see that I said I was asked by yourselves to leave this comment!!
If you were a patient would you be happy with my current situation?
My existing hair was clearing covering up the work yous had done!! He has the come in my fringe, i never asked for my fringe to be done as I already had hair there, again which yous chose to ignore.
I few people on this forum hair said they have had to have a second transplant as they revived a poor result. I would never expect a full refund, but 6000£ for this type of work is disgusting!!
You don’t just pay for surgery you pay for results!!

On the 29th March D18 replied.

I had also complained to the clinic numerous time about my hair before this which again you’re choosing to ignore!!
Don’t tell me the doctor would be happy with this work.
I sent this picture in which you are still ignoring and shows poor work.

On the 2nd April D18 replied.

Just to add onto this to make anyone aware of your thinking about the hair DR. As my hair is growing back in, I’ve noticed that is all pointing to the left, rather than growing forward like the rest of my hair. I’ve been informed they must have put in the incorrectly. Explains a lot as well.
Unbelievable they they get away with this!!
Stay away!!

At 12 months you posted saying how happy you were. The pictures you posted from what looks like your own home look decent. No manipulation with hair as it’s you taking your own pictures. The area transplanted in your post-op pictures looks to be in the region of 2000 grafts.

Then a year later on the 23rd February 2023 you post saying how unhappy you are with the result. The pictures you posted do show the area lacking in density.

Why did you wait a full year before saying you were unhappy?

See below.

I’m unsure why you would say how happy you were, then a year later say the exact opposite.

You say the clinic know what the issue is. They have responded to you on here. Why don’t you contact them again and ask.

You say you had a second hair transplant and the nurse said the following -

“Now after the nurse had shaved my head she informed me that the last surgeon had split my grafts, I explained that I paid £6000 for 2000 grafts. She was shocked and knew exactly what surgeon I had been to. The gaps between the hairs on my last transplant are quite big and some of the hair line didn’t even grow in”

Could you explain how she came to that inference? If you don’t know, could you ask her?

It would be beneficial to this thread if you could add your surgery pictures from this second surgery. You can crop out anything that shows the clinic. This way we can see what your hair looked like via the pre-op pictures they took.

I’m sorry you’re not happy but we need all the facts.

I'm a bit confused by this! The results at 12 months look good. Hair transplants are not perfect and will never give us back what we once had, but with good styling at a 'sweet spot' length they can look good, but we can also make them look bad quite easily, because the density will never be pre-hair loss. I agree with @Bigmac - it's important to present all of the facts.

Also, I hope that you get the results that you want with your second transplant.
