1.5 years post non-shaven FUE in Korea. Things have been going really well, so sharing a quick update.
2 to 3 months: went through shedding. Was told it’s normal, so I didn’t stress and just let it pass. Hair started settling and growing naturally after that. I also followed all the aftercare, which probably helped a lot.
5 to 6 months: noticeably thicker and fuller. Could style it normally, no awkward phase.
8 months to now: growth has been stable and easy to maintain.
One of the reasons I chose non-shaven FUE was because I didn’t want to shave my head for work and daily life. Recovery felt more low-key, and it was easier to go back to normal without it being too obvious. It does cost more, but for me it was worth it.
Honestly, I hesitated at first when I heard I’d need to take oral meds long term. But thinking about going bald for life vs taking meds for life, the choice was pretty clear. Started meds 3 months before surgery and still taking them daily. Definitely see a difference in hair strength and overall condition. Even if you’re not getting a transplant, I’d say oral meds are a must.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I chose non-shaven FUE because I didn’t want to shave a large area of my donor zone. I also wanted to get back to normal life quickly without it being too obvious right after the surgery. Below is what it looked like immediately after the procedure. Although it’s the most expensive option compared to FUT and standard FUE, I think it was totally worth it.

Youir hair looks great. Did they pluck each individual graft by searching between the existing hair?
