Here is a layout of my first month and the progress.

Showing how I could create an appearance of, more or less, a full head of hair using a concealer and the use of a lite application to help through intermediate transition period.

Westcoaster. I have used a concealer that a patient of ours told me about who is a make up artist from NY. It is similar to Dermatch but I feel better, it is called Fill-in powder for Men. The product is softer and applies easier then Dermatch and more waterproof. It is like a shoe polish for the head, it does an awesome job to make thin areas appear full, it is easy to apply, and I have no lack of freedom. I can be as active as I'd like with no fear it will run.....swim, workout, rain, saunas no issue. I've never been a fan of the shake on products.

Hey Matt. You are a dab hand with the concealer. Do you wash it out daily to prevent the pores getting blocked?

I do wash it out daily as I believe you need to keep the skin pores clean and free from obstructions.

I Got to admit it you are the best i have ever seen at using the concealer....i truly thought you had a full head of hair when we met and i still can't get over the before and afters with the fill in powder.

First let me say its god to see you are doing well and you took the next step, I hope all is well. Who did the procedure and what method of harvesting was used (Artars, motorized, manual etc...)? Looks real clean and I agree with the other posters you can definitely rock the buzz cut. Eagerly awaiting your results :::C

Hey Bullitnut, I thought the same thing. I would never suspected that Matt had any hair loss at all. I used both Toppik and Dermatch a great many years ago, but it never looked very good.

Hey Arrie,
It's been a long time....
We no longer have the Artas. It's been a year since we've used it. Dr Joe and I prefer to use sharp punches these days but we're keeping the dull punches for some patients who are better fit for it. Patients' tissue are different and we've found that some take sharp punches better and vice-versa. There is a slight technique difference in using each type of punch but we like having both dull and sharp punches available.
How have you been? The next ISHRS conference is in Chicago, we'll have to plan a meet up of SMG patients there.

Yeah i know how you feel dude i have used the Dermmatch too but couldnt seem to get it right and as for the fibres on the odd occasion i use it i find its hard to balance just how much to use, i find if you use less it looks more natural but it's a fine balancing act....hope your good dude

That would be awesome! The conference is September 10th through the 12th. The Live Patient Viewing is generally held on the Saturday. Email or call me sometime soon when you're available.

2.5 months out......sitting in the limbo period.

Getting by with a little concealer to darken things a bit (but you can't use too much when it is thin) and make things look more uniform.

The transition period was my biggest concern going into surgery. It isn't easy plus you are anxious but there are little tricks that can help.

It is best to take your mind off the transplant after doing it, until 4 mths because you are just not going to see much.

Coping.
