Donor looks good. Hopefully the rest will fill out over the next month or two.

To me the hairs at the front look as though they need to mature a lot and your donor looks great!!

Do you think that maturation of the front hairs will create a good level of density?
Some of the hairs that have appeared at 3-4 months have barely grown at all; almost no growth progress even though I know transplanted hair grows slower but these are almost completely static. I don't know if this is due to bad extractions or other faults. I've also had this last time where some hairs just stalled.

If they progress it would help a bit I guess although it wouldn't be enough.

I'm sorry things arn't where you'd like them to be Hemingway, there's still plenty of time for things to improve. What are you're plans going forward?

Also, have the clinic given you an estimate of how many grafts you have left to use in the future?

Donor looks good, hopefully the density will improve and you will be happy at 12 months! :) Stay positive!

Hopefully there is scope for further improvement, but there has been very little last three months. I was growing fastest months 2-4 and it just sort of hit a dead end at this point. According to what I was told by the clinic first time/this time months 6+ should see exponentially more growth but it's been the reverse.

Yeah, from my own experience, my growth was kind of done at 7 months. Very little happened between 7 months to 12, only maturation which adds some density.

All grafts should have sprouted by 7 months.

Morning all,

Thanks for the reassurance in any case although at this stage I don't have much with the current situation. 7 months today and I wouldn't say there is much change. Left side has improved a little but overall it's staying the same in my opinion.

I also have a link to my donor; 7 months after a total of 4000 grafts. Let me know what you think; I hope it has not been overly depleted at this stage.

Your donor hair at that length looks quite thick in the video. Hopefully, you still have a good number of grafts that are available. To establish this it’ll need to be examined by a doctor.
Growth needs to increase in the following months. If not, you could be looking at another surgery to increase the density.
Everything crossed for the growth.

It's really not where I thought I would be after two procedures with a supposedly good surgeon, Bigmac.

As you say the donor is hopefully in a good place. I will soon post some further close up photos of my recipient region and I would appreciate any opinions on if there is any significant scarring. Hopefully there is no further damage than wasted grafts.

As a contrast, I had early growth but currently have spots/ingrowing hairs from what appears to be a second wave of growth at just shy of 8 months.

That may be because I had some crown work. Either way it goes to show it's very individual.

Have someone take the pictures of your recipient so they can compare which ones are a true reflection on what they can actually see in person.

Your donor is looking great @Hemingway - you've definitely got lots more grafts in there to take. I have had just over 9000 taken from my donor. Do you plan on having your hair the length it is in the video? My hair looks fine shaved and then when it is at least 1cm long, but looks pretty rubbish in between those lengths due to the amount grafts I've taken out! I think I was pretty lucky with my donor as Dr Reddy said that in 10 years of surgery he'd not seen a better donor area on a NW6 patient.

I guess it's imperative to make sure every graft you take from now on counts and plan for the future!!

Hang in there!

Crown work is totally different from hairline work because of low blood flow in the crown the growth can take much longer, often 12 months+ for a full result.

Hairline work is usually kinda done at month 7 for 99% of people I would say.

Completely agree @loui - My crown was not at its best until at least 18 months post surgery.

That’s the timeline I was given by the clinic for my crown.

That said, 8 months in and I’m still getting pimples in the frontal 3rd as well, probably where multiple follicle grafts are producing additional hairs.

For the OP (and based on the above), there is some time for the hairline/frontal 3rd to develop and quite a lot of time for his crown.

Good morning,

I am back at 9 months. Did not update at 8; I find it rather stressful to update monthly, given that things are not quite where I'd like them to be. Over the last 2 months I've seen minimal if any progress. The front and right side are exactly as they were in my opinion. The left has somewhat progressed but it is still really bad. There are major gaps in the hairline and zero density. You can see this well in the photos where you can see clearly make out my natural hairline versus the recipient zone.

Obviously it's a huge disappointment, given the money, grafts and time spent on this. I am coping pretty well at the current moment. I have advised Phil on here recently to try to move on, and I am trying to take my own advice for the time being. I can cover it up by styling my hair as I normally do but obviously this is far from ideal. Months 5-8 were the worst in terms of stress as there was still a faint chance it might turn around.

After requesting all my photos from the clinic, I've had radio silence until a couple weeks ago with a direct message from Dr Arshad. He accused me of being malicious by posting this thread. He then implied my expectations are impossible to meet. I realize hairline advancement is ambitious as far as hair surgery goes, but I really don't think that this it's unrealistic to expect more than this after 4000 grafts. The message left me with a bad taste in my mouth, as the last thing I expected at this stage was to be bullshitted again. Excuse my tone but I could not find a more appropriate but polite term.

As always I would appreciate honest opinions on how things are.

Hi Hemingway,

What does it look like when styled and as one body of hair? I don’t think separating the recipient hair from the existing hair is flattering to any HT if I’m honest. I know a lot of people who have had transplants and you can pick every single one apart if you get forensic about it. I think we’re all guilty of overanalysing things which other people don’t even notice about ourselves. If I were you I’d get a sharp hair cut and style with a matt clay product. I thought my growth was done at 9 months but the maturation of the hairs after that has mad a hell of a difference. I’m sure it will work out fine :)
