3000 grafts Dr Arshad Hair Dr Clinic

Hi,

New post on here.

10 months post op, seeking guidance/ weighing up options.

Been told to wait now till 12 months for a review by hair dr clinic, they’ve just said things look great, and to keep monitoring. However there has been little to no change except my hair getting longer since about month 7 in regards to density,

How would you rate these results? Do you think any improvement can happen in the next two months?

Any recommendations as to how many grafts would be required to get suitable density?
I’ve spoken to a couple clinics, and had numbers from 1200-1500 thrown about. Does this seem accurate?

Your hairline looks ok. Without seeing pictures showing before surgery and immediate post-op it’s impossible to comment on the result so far. It sounds as though you’ve had most, if not all your growth. Your hair can continue to mature in the following months.
Could you post the pictures you sent to clinics too. Maybe some with your hair styled upwards with no hand keeping it in place.

In that pre-op your hair loss doesn’t look too bad. Was your hair thinning throughout? I ask this because of your post-op shows graft placement going as far back to the crown. Are you on a hair loss prevention regimen?
It looks as though the hairline was slightly lowered. Is this the case?

Adding all the surgery pictures and the ones you sent to clinics would be helpful.

What are your thoughts on the result so far?

I have thinning in the crown, I had no grafts put in the crown though, was advised against it by the doctor, saying it’s too early to implant there, could cause more shock loss than good. I’d say the front 3/5ths has been covered. I’m on fin coming up 3 years now.

Photo showing crown thinning pre surgery.

Hairline was lowered in the corners about 1.5cm

I could see why you would want more density, looks similiar to where I was before my second HT density wise and I was not happy.

Sorry to keep asking for pictures but I meant the pictures you sent off to other clinics for them to quote the numbers they did.

At 10 months you still have a slim chance of more growth even though you said not much change from month 7. There probably has been change since month 7 but you've not noticed. The clinic are correct in asking you to hold off until at least 12 months before determining the final result.

If your result were to stay as is I`d say you’ll need some hairline refinement. I`ve copied your pictures to provide a rough idea of what I’m talking about.

I don`t know how much thinning you had behind your hairline. You`ll need to ask the clinic this.

In your pre-op picture I see some slight thinning right in the centre of your hairline that I circled. I’ve drawn a blue line that I’m thinking is roughly the design the clinic went with. It would appear singles were placed in front of the blue surgical line they drew.
It`s hard to tell if all the front 2-3 rows are singles. If you don’t have at least 2-3 rows of singles in a staggered formation you’ll be able to see larger grafts that are placed for density. This can create an unnatural look often referred to as a pluggy look. The rows of single hairs help the transition zone from soft finer hairs to the multis that provide the density. The singles basically hide the multis behind, helping it all blend in.
It may be the case that not enough singles were used or not enough survived. Again, your surgery details should help determine this.

I don’t see a difference in transplanted density in the centre to the rest of the hairline. Going towards your temple corners it looks like the density was increased. You may wish to ask the clinic at what density they placed these areas.

Looking at your 10 month pictures and comparing to the surgery pictures there does appear to be some gaps in the hairline. The picture quality is not great though. A high resolution close-up would work to provide a better comparison.

Going back to the transplanted area. Thanks for the additional picture and confirmation the crown was left. Being on Finasteride for 3 years should be helping you retain your native hair and hopefully, improving it.

Hey, I’ll have to dig through old emails to find the photos, yes I think that’s the case, the front single row is singles, but they are spaced out too widely to hide the the multi hair grafts, which is probably what’s causing the pluggyness, Doesn’t capture too well on camera, But it’s almost exclusively 2/3 hair grafts.

Yes that’s pretty much the design they went with as you’ve drawn, about 1.5cm lowered in the corners, annoyingly I still have that thin patch in the front, so those grafts in the front did not grow at all, I can see clear difference between transplanted and native hair, by colour/ thickness, again doesn’t properly pick up on my phone camera, perhaps a better camera would show this.

If you only have one row of singles the transition zone will not blend, there should be 2-3 rows of singles. If this is the case you’ll need more added along the hairline to achieve a natural look. Discuss this with the clinic as they’ll have the data and the surgery pictures.
If you look at Loui`s thread you can see the high magnification images. Ask him where and what to buy. Loui`s thread

Like is really just the corners that are the issue, and that tiny bit dead centre, donor area looks on touched, like an amazing job on that side.

The main problem is bad density, will look much better if you add 20-30 grafts per cm2.

Your donor looks untouched at this length. Obviously I can’t comment on what it looks like shaved down but I`m assuming it is in a decent condition with enough grafts that can be safely extracted to add more density if that’s what you decide. A smallish surgery should get you to where you want to be.

How many grafts do you think he'd need?

Looking at the close-up pictures maybe 500 - 600 grafts would get the desired result. This figure could reduce or increase when seen in person and examined under magnification.

Im curious to see how the number of grafts looks on the skin of the hair is shorter many of us wear the hair short ( cant get away with the longer locks on top! atm)
