Application of Topical Minoxidil

Hi, I’m 24 and experienced some hair loss in my hairline only (quite noticeable but not that bad) when I turned 21/22. I just started taking oral finasteride (1 mg) and oral minoxidil (2.5 mg) but minoxidil was causing me racing heart so I stopped taking the pills and bought a topical solution instead (5%). Now I have some doubts on how to apply it. The instructions say that I should do 6 pumps which are 1 mg. But I apply the solution to left and right temples (where hairline receded). So do I do 3 pumps left and 3 right or 6 and 6? Also, instructions say I should apply it twice a day, is it okay to apply it before going to sleep only? The solution makes my hair greasy that’s why I’d rather use it before going to bed.
Thank you in advance!

I started applying the topical 5% solution after hair transplant and progressively understood that these are not hard instructions - sometimes I put 7 pumps because I realize that say one pump has gotten mostly on my hair and not on the scalp directly. I started putting it twice a day, but then read that once a day is sufficient and now I do as applicable, I think that it will not make much difference. What matters is that you put it daily and have some continuity.

If you only have a small area I would say the foam is a better option. Slightly more expensive but easy to apply. Just squirt a modest amount to the area and dab it down.
