I don't really understand the regrowth situation here. How many grafts have failed and why?

You`ve had quite some punch outs, the scar tissue and trauma can reflect on the yield of your newly transplanted grafts, sometimes a second pass is required to rectify the situation.

Good luck bud with the second procedures growth.

Like Mythek, I'm not exactly sure what's going on here - at the risk of possibly looking dim, can I just clarify that the pics featured are the 10 month post op after the Dr Mwamba surgery? This is the correction?
Cheers

The plan in this patient was :
-to lower FHL ( we used nape hairs). They are thinner and lighter than scalp hairs .
-To build back temples pointes .We used scalp hairs and they did grow very good and strong and creates a contrast with the light FHL and the poor growth in frontal zone .

Why poor growth ?
1.Scar tissue has poor circulation and usually affects growth
2.We punch out grafts in that area which is additionnal trauma with inflammatory process involved and therefore risk of poor growth .

We grafted at low density to overcome these issues but it didn't work.

During the second session , we implanted strong scalp hairs at low density .We also promote to use laser therapy to increase blood circulation .
In some patients .I also recommend a small cure of cardio aspirine to improve blood circulation.Patients are also encouraged to take vitamins and proteins such as Help Hair shake protein for the same purpose :increase blood supply and nutrients to the grafts in order to give them better chance of growing .

We are following closely the patient and patience is the key .
It takes one day to destroy a building and several times to rebuild it , step by step .

Thank you

Thanks for describing 'Fue Saved Me's' situation.

Reading the explanation and looking again at the picture with the plugs extracted, made me appreciate how extensive the scarring was. So it was a tough ask to expect instant flawless results.

The growth that has been achieved will hopefully promote blood-flow in the area and make the next pass more successful. I look forward to seeing the improvement.

Yes , everytime we engaged in such repair , we are hoping we can hit a home run .Then sometimes , we just have to come back to reality and move from base to base .What is sure , we will get to the end point .

Hi. Here is an update on this repair case. The patient is very pleased with what we were able to achieve. The frontal hairline appears noticeably softer and the orientation of the front has been corrected. The location of the temple peaks and the angles of hair growth are far more appropriate for balancing the patient's facial features. Below are the most current depictions of the patient's transformation.

The nature of repair is far more complicated than most individuals realize. The changes in skin pigmentation, scarring formation, and compromised blood flow also affect the aesthetic quality of the end result. The effects of large plug grafts can oftentimes force ridging and cobblestoning on the patient's scalp due to the sheer volume of space that they occupy. Also, the general hair density can be difficult to increase when removal of plugs is performed simultaneously. Sutures are used to improve the patient's ability to heal. The sutures also add another degree of difficulty to increasing hair density in the sutured areas.

The patient has progressed in an upward direction and the matured results are acceptable.

He looks to be in a much better place now. What exactly does cobblestoning mean?

When Clinics use larger round plugs/grafts they can accidentally create an effect called "cobblestoning" this is where the elevation of the graft is higher than the surface of the surrounding skin. This can be avoided by placing the grafts at, or very slightly above the skins surface.

This patient has come so far since first arriving at our clinic. Cobblestoning is a nasty disfigurement of the texture of the scalp that resembles a very uneven surface on the patients scalp. Cobblestones are historically known for hardness, high density in mass, callus-like texture, and shows extremely uniformed elevations and depressions on the scalp. Usually the scalp loses considerable pigmentation along with very restricted blood flow. The condition can actually cause immense pain the the patients scalp. It's always sad to see patients come in to get any kind of relieve . Not a lot of docs can help these individuals.

You have to blame the doctor because it just cannot be acceptable in any regard when bad hair transplants almost immediately produce poor aesthetic results. Many times these poor guys have some extent of permanent damage. Our clinic can help restore the hair, but a significant percentage of these individuals have extensive scarring which equates to completely unpredictable hair growth by the best clinic.

This lack of cosmetic improvement... It's the wrong approach and just isn't right because it doesn't help or benefit the patient in ANY way.
