Hi

I am have currently booked in with Dr Arshad at Hr Dr for 2500 grafts in September and thought I would progress my journey from start to finish.

Background
I am currently a 38 year old male with hereditary male pattern baldness. This seems to run in the family on my father's side.

Current Medication
I have been using liquid minoxidil for the past 7 months, have seen no regrowth of hair or thickening but also seen no further hair loss.

Currently also taking Saw-palmetto and biotin, again don't know if this has made any difference to my hair.

Laser therapy
When to a hair loss clinic in Leeds who put me on a dose of minoxidil and laser therapy, saw no improvements from this treatment whatsoever and felt a little miss lead by the clinic in question with false promises.

Hair fibres.
I currently use hair concealer fibres to thicken my hair and thinning areas. Use a bottle a month and it works quite well but is not sustainable going forward.

Research
Have done plenty of research before choosing the hair Dr, I was tempted by the cheap deals been offered elsewhere but the more research you do the more it makes you realise that reputation is everything in this business.

Have attached some pictures of my current hair and one with me using hair fibres. I will try and update this thread on my journey and progress and any feedback would be grateful.

Hey,

I had a consultation with this clinic in April and I’m hoping to get some work done towards the end of the year/ early 2022.

I’m very keen to chart your progress and wish you every success!

@Johnboy83 whay sort of coverage/ density are you hoping for?

Are you only looking to address the front and leave the crown?
Given the extent of your hair loss 2500 grafts doesn’t seem a lot and definitely won’t give full coverage with any sort of density

I think my main aim is to thicken the hair on the op of my head at the moment, the back of my head is not a priority or bothers me at the moment. The thining hair on the top of my head is the real issue.

To be fair 2500 grafts is a worry but is the top of my price range at moment. Hopefully I will see a big improvement.

A couple of weeks away from my procedure and I have concerns regarding the amount of cover I will get from 2500 grafts on the top of my head. I am under no illusion that 2500 would fully cover my thinning hair but I am worrying regarding the amount of cover which is possible on the op of my head.

I have options of upping the grafts to 3000 on the day but don't want be wasting my time with the coverage.

Hi - Johnboy

Are you thinking of not going ahead at all if you can't get the coverage?

Have you spoken to the clinic again with your concerns? You might be able to push it to 3k as you say (depending on your donor area) and or focus on a specific area such as hairline rather than spread coverage all over? A lot of people don't mind too much about the crown as it's less visible.

A lot will depend on the type of hair you have e.g. thickness or multiple grafts so best to discuss with the clinic the best approach.

Finasteride or oral minoxidil may be better options for you.
You still have a partial hairline. 2500 grafts would probably give a decent result strengthening your hairline and coverage in the frontal third. Ask the clinic to mark out the area they are proposing to transplant and send to you prior to your surgery date. This way you’ll be able to decide if that’s what you’ll be happy with. You could also check out similar results with the same number of grafts.

Thank you for the replys guy's, to be fair the top of my head is priority over the crown. If could get decent results from 3000 grafts then I would be happy.
