Thats some write up Bn, long but worth while as it will give newbies an idea of what its like travelling to get a Ht. Also an enjoyable read.

I`m pleased that SMG were able to get 1800 grafts which i think is pretty amazing after all your other surgeries.

Nice pictures and video, i`ll look forward to seeing your surgery pictures when you get them.

Heal and grow well.

You really out did yourself BN. That's quite the detailed write up. And to think I thought you were going for a short write up this time. In fact, as you were leaving SMG Friday, I recall saying, "just post your pics and say here's my pics from my 3rd procedure with SMG". It's safe to say you didn't follow my suggestion.....haha.

I've just emailed pre-op and immed post op pics from BN's 3rd surgery to him today. Once he gets over his jet lag, I'm sure he'll post his pics.

From Bn's write up, he mentioned use of Vitrase to loosen his donor laxity. Vitrase is a hyaluronidase injection just before the strip removal to draw out fluid (water) in the donor area so that the closure is much easier, to put it in simple terms. The fluid will eventually return within 2-3 weeks. It's very localized and no side effects to report. BN can thank Vitase for allowing his donor yield to increase by 500 grafts this time compared to last procedure. It also helped this time that his donor scars have less scar tissue than previous surgeries as SMG doctors have excised out a good portion of it in the last two procedures.

Please note that when BN posts his new immediate post op pics from Surgery #3, BN was given a moderate hair cut in the recipient area for easy incisions and planting. BN gave permission to shave his head if need be. While shaving the whole head wasn't necessary, partial cut made the procedure easier on all of us.

Awesome write up dude-you out did me there I reckon! lol I had to take a 2nd look when I saw the graft count at 1800! As I was sure due to a lack of laxity last time with Dr Paul you only got around 1000 so I was expecting the same or maybe less and thought it would be FUE this time-never mind the possibility of that next year.....if you need it at all!!!
I am so very very happy for you Nutster you are without doubt the champion of this site and the great SMG crew.I echoed what you said about Sir Ron in my own review and it is indeed true, he really does care, his words to me were 'lets get you 100% happy then I'm happy'a more dedicated sincere man you will never meet. This warmth is also reflected in his team-Janna-Matt-Dal-Vikki and everyone else who have been there a long time...what does that tell you?
I am really excited at my next procedure now thanks to you Nutster- bieng offered a last minute slot because he wanted to slot me in is typical of this wonderful man, wanting to help when I was disappointed that I would have to wait till Jan/Feb.
So can't wait to see your picks mate and as I was thinking about maybe getting 1000 grafts myself-I may have to re-think now and take some extra wonga just in case! lol

Heal well my good cyber buddy ¬b`:::C

Janna, I think Bullit is just giving us short excerpts for his upcoming novel "SMG n' Me". :T:

I remember the Vitrase name from my last round. Sounds absolutely disgusting. :)

BRING ON THE PICS!

Classic ! love it lol.

Anyway thankyou as ever for all the warm wishes.

Want to just add that on the pictures my hair looks a little messy and long, it was like this as i figured i would grow it out to disguise the up coming work....then on the day i just thought what the hell, and gave then permission to shave it all off lol , although they just trimmed here and there.

Another thing:- Sorry about the late replies, i was severley jet lagged because:-

I booked an economy comfort chair with Delta, so i could sleep all the way home at a small fee, got my travel pillow in place, wound my seat back, was all set......then the lovely flight attendent dumped some 350 pound guy next to me who couldn't fit in a normal chair. His elbows were sat on my chest the whole way home lol.

I spent the whole journey watching him eat sweets and break wind to the sound of tunes from American Idol)(_:: I am not predjudice to peoples problems and don't mock others but he was HUGE!!!

Anyway here are my surgery details.

1851 grafts, 3202 hairs.

donor area;- was growing it a little longer to conceal the new scars (sutures or staples) so looks a little unkempt , but thats just me too lol.

Hahaha thats me Janna, believe it or not i wasn't actuall going to go into so much detail this time, honestly lol.

But as it was a nice day the last day i was there, i took my camera and i went for a walk and thought....you know what ill take some pictures and do my write up.

Took a while but the important thing i hope is that it shows just how easy it actually is to come to the US for a procedure......and to be honest that's the part that frightened me originally the most.

Thanks for the pics.

Take care Bullit;)

Your write ups are brilliant, fair play to you for going to the effort to take the time to go into such detail,i like the video idea to show how short the walk is.

Thanks Mars, i thought at the time when i walked that it would be a good idea to film, as it's so very close and only takes a short while...so hopefully it should help dude.

Thanks for the positive feedback and i hope your doing well my friend BN;)

LMAO ok dude its a date...you fetch the pens though and I will fetch the hotties:::C
On a more serious note dude-the work looks awesome it always amazes me how much coverage Sir Ron gets from so few grafts.Your hairline looks like its dropped a good inch maybe more! When that lot grows out Nutster its going to look absolutely awesome!
I am thinking about widening and thickening the front-firmly attaching and bringing forward my widows peak-thickening the mid section and if possible-putting a few grafts into the left hand side of my crown- to give Nano and Topik a little something to cling to.Will depend on what we get on the day of course but will be realistic as always;)

BN's scar has greatly, greatly improved from where he started, however, I wouldn't consider them the best ever. Simply due to BN's multiple surgeries. Rough estimation of the size averages around 2mm wide. I've been amazed at majority of the strip scars we've seen in the last few years from strip procedures, bn's scar pales in comparison (sorry, bn).

Case in point, Today's strip patient had prior surgery a year ago with Dr. Ron. I went to check on his surgery this morning and found that he's laying prone position ready for surgery. It's regretable that his donor area was already trimmed and prepped so the scar looks bigger in the pictures than it does in person. However, this is the only way you'll be able to spot the scar because there's no way it'd come out at all had his hair been normal length.

I was under the impression that the average srip scar was around 3-4mm and 1-2mm were considered as good as one could get and not the norm.

Unless im very lucky i will def need a strip in the future,i could easily hide bn and the guy in the last pic strip scars at a 4 guard even with my crap donor density.

The average width of bn's scar is around 2mm so some parts may have been around 3mm wide. Perhaps I should have said 2.5mm width. 1-2mm width is indeed about as good as you get. Today's patient is around 1mm. He'd be able to get away with a 3 guard easy. If he had good donor density, he'd be able to get away with a 2 guard. With fue, you can probably get away with 1 or 2 guard while strip is 2 to 3 guard in best case scenarios. I would think you'd be able to get away with a 4 guard after strip surgery but as you know, it depend on your physiology too so don't hold me to it. ;)

As for 3-4mm being the average size strip scar no longer holds true strip, at least not at SMG.

Bullit - your pics are terrific. I love the pre-ops. Seriously, the length is perfect for you in my opinion. I know you said it was longer than usual but I think it suits you well.

It seems that both of our recent surgeries were similar in plan (though mine focused less on the hairline) and graft/hair counts. Your scar look amazing, I'm totally jealous! I can't believe Janna says she sees better scars on a regular basis!

This next round is going to put you over the moon. Just remember to be patient. Even us vets need to be reminded of that. The first two months for me were quite lame, even though I knew what to expect - so hang tough.

All the best dude. Oh, and keep your hair long! ;)

Thanks man!, always makes me laugh when you read posts from guys who don't think the waiting games tough.....well it is period!!! possibly the worst part of an HT imo, but also the most exciting too, and i'm used to it know as you probably are dude.

It's almost like knowing your going to get Jessica Alba for Christmas...but you have to wait till she finds your house)(_::
