Does anybody have a recommendation for a good shampoo to use to slow hair loss and help make thinning hair look a little fuller? Found this on Amazon but how does a shampoo reduce DHT, i was under the impression DHT was a hormone?

In my opinion, shampoo does not reduce DHT enough to make any significant difference. Ketoconazole shampoo such as Nizoral is an antifungal that helps reduce scalp inflammation and dry skin There are many volumising shampoos out there that will thicken the hair shaft.
Anyone who claims shampoo will prevent hair loss or regrow lost hair is selling you snake oil. Read the small print, it will usually mention using Minoxidil in conjunction with it.

Do you think any hair loss shampoo helps Bigmac, or is it all just a gimic in your experience?

I tried a one of these shampoos and nothing besides cleaning my hair. I think they make the claims because somewhere the ingredients in the shampoo have some loose connection to DHT etc and that´s how they get away with making the claims. Truth is probably there is no way a shampoo can reduce DHT in the head, I kicked myself for falling for the rubbish after.

Nioxin is good. (System 1)
nizoral shampoo can assist.
Tea tree shampoos can also kill unknown fungus on scalp that may be detrimental to hair
Neutragena T scalp shamoo can help keep scalp healthy.

Alternate diff shampoos so your hair doesn’t get used to a shampoo

There is no scientific studies that show any shampoo will reduce DHT. Unlike topical medications that are left on your scalp to absorb in, shampoo is washed off.
SeanFUE points out that some are good for cleaning your scalp which is the main reason we use shampoo. Some will make your hair feel good, shiny, thicker, etc but it won`t grow your hair back.

Yes, no shampoo i mentioned really grows new hairs. There really isn’t any that does so. Keep scalp healthy for thick grafts and prevent breakage. It may revive weaker hairs. At the same time, keeps funguses and other infections at bay by maintaining healthy scalp. Healthy scalp and blood flow is key.
Excessive sebum, blocked oily scalp, itchy scalp, folliculitus, ring worm, and etc can be prevented by smart shampoo regimens.

If it makes your hair smell nice, cleans it and you like it then use it, but don´t buy into the sales pitch it´s going to stop your hair fall or make it grow back because shampoos don´t.

I never really cared what shampoo I used until my hair loss became noticeable and then I started to look at what ingredients they contained. Most have stuff in there I’ve never heard of.

I saw you are a Trichologist on another post so I was wondering if you had any information on good shampoo`s to use.

I read it from many publications.
shampoo doesnt work in any case, just because the amount that pass through the skin barrier never reaches treatment levels. some seems to be helpfull, but when you stop using it, it falls down much faster, and it is because it doesnt help follicule root, it just helps for existing hair.

Ketoconazole shampoo has been proven to be a light dht blocker on the scalp.

I tried a maximum strength DHT reducing shampoo for at least a year and I thought it would be a good idea to use it twice a day.
Why not right?

Turns out I have been washing my hair so much that I have inadvertently created a huge buildup of Sebum Oil on my scalp which is preventing the Minoxidil from getting into the follicles. The Minoxidil just sits on my scalp and burns.

Now I have to reduce the frequency of washing my hair down to only 2 or 3 time a week and I'm going to use a scalp & follicle enzyme cleanser for a month or so to really get my scalp back to normal.

What I have learned is this; There are no FDA approved DHT blocking shampoos & don't wash your hair too much.

Yeah, I was told that actuay washing your hair with a shampoo two - three times a week is more than enough.
The more shampoo your hair the more the oil get secreted and it just keeps building up.

There's a really good video about it on Youtube.

Search this title on youtube and go right to 5:13 for the hair part:

How To Remove Excess Sebum In The Scalp For HAIR LOSS

The guy in this video basically told me exactly what he hair care specialist told me.

Good luck

A Mila Rose Hair Care (milarose.store) shampoo with hints of lemon scent that promises to gently clean your scalp and hair while moisturising it at the same time with glicerine, lanolin and castor oil. In its formula, you won’t find sulphates, parabens, mineral oils or silicones or were it not a Curly Girl product.
Even best Shampoos - conditioners in market contain sulfate, powerful detergents that pull dirt, oil & grease from hair. For Curly, kinky & wavy hair natural oils take longer to travel down the hair shaft…

I suggest Xcellerate 35 shampoo for the better hair results. however you need to purchase it along with their serum.
