Coconut oil 2 weeks after FUE hair transplant. Damages?

Hello all! New year.

Almost 1 month ago (26th day today) I had my first hair transplant for 3200 grafts.

From the 14th day after the hair transplant, I applied a spoon of coconut oil 5 days out of 7 (until the 21st day) in the non-transplanted area.
In 2 days of those 7, I applied a bit in the transplanted area as well.
After application, the transplanted area turned red and itched. Most days the itch and pain went away as soon as I applied minoxidil. 5 pimples appeared on different days.

Only on the 21st day (7 days after) I connected the coconut oil wasn't great after the hair transplant.
After I stopped on the 21st day the area was normal again.

I was very worried. I sent the pictures to the surgeon, who told me I had seborrheic dermatitis, and not to worry. She suggested me a shampoo to use.

Do you think I can have done some damage? What are the risks for the follicles?

Thanks!

P.S. 1st picture is after 9 days (before coconut oil). Second is 2 hours after application (20th day). The third is the last day I applied it (21st day). The fourth one is one day after stopping coconut oil (22nd day). The last one is today (26th day)

Thank you!

You will be fine. At 14 days the grafts are well and truly secure. The itching/dandruff is quite common after surgery. The shampoo should clear this up.

Thanks Bigmac!
What do you think about the application of the coconut oil so early?

As long as you don't over apply it, wash your hair everyday to remove any excess oil I say you are fine. The oil will help with itching, dandruff and moisturise your scalp. Your scalp looks good in your post-op pictures.

Thanks for the reassurance Bigmac, much appreciated :)

Yes during the 3rd week, I applied it in small quantities (1 spoon) in the non-recipient area. Just a small amount in the recipient for 2 days. I was a bit worried about the redness, itching, and pain for 1-2 hours after application...
It is great to have both your and the surgeon's reassurance.

In another forum, they told me the potential negative effects of coconut oil could not be seen now! That's why I am worried.

The point is that I have read that coconut oil is an occlusive and comedogenic oil. I don't know very much about what it means and what the effects could be of applying it only 14 days after HT!

Have you ever heard of similar stories?
That could help a lot

I’ve never heard of negative effects from using coconut oil. Maybe ask whoever is saying potential negative effects to show you some studies/proof. Your own medical doctor has no concerns. Is the person raising concerns a medical doctor or some type of specialist like a trichologist? You’re only applying small amounts. Keeping your scalp cleansed with washing will prevent any build up that could potentially block pores if it was excessive, yours usage is not.

Yeah you're right.
The person raising concerns was the moderator of another forum!

You know all this period, everything seems so problematic. I would like to just wake up in 6 months' time

Try to relax and let the whole process take its course.
